Any advice would be appreciated - will I have to travel to Manchester in order to find an ambitious club with good player numbers and a reasonable level of football? I don't know anyone in the area so any advice from anybody living in the Bradford area would be appreciated. Do any of the clubs have their own social clubs? Keen to find a new watering hole with some friendly faces! All responses gratefully accepted! JJMcB (Antrim) - Posts: 6 - 30/08/2015 14:47:37 1777950 Link 0 |
No clubs in Bradford JJ, however, St. Benedicts Harps in Leeds would be your best bet. They are flat out training for the Yorkshire Senior Championship and building up the under-age again. Also, next year, will be in Division 1 of the Pennine League. We're a friendly bunch who socialise in the Leeds Irish Centre and O'Neill's pub in town. Thanks Carnaross. Meeting up with a couple of the bigger outfits when I land over so I'll drop you an e-mail if I need any more info after the meetings. JJMcB (Antrim) - Posts: 6 - 05/09/2015 20:28:02 1783002 Link 0 |
Is that your outfit playing in the junior final on Sunday Carnaross? Might take a trip over to watch it. Has the intermediate/senior final taken place yet? JJMcB (Antrim) - Posts: 6 - 22/09/2015 19:33:02 1790987 Link 0 |
Aye, it is. All counties in Britain, except London, play Junior championships with each winner going into the All-Britain Junior championship leading onto the All-Ireland Junior club championship. London is the only county which has a senior and intermediate championship. Just to confuse things even further, the counties refer to these (Junior) championships as senior. Post code for pitch is LS11 8RP - throw-in 1.00pm. We'll be in the Mayo colours. Carnaross (None) - Posts: 189 - 23/09/2015 08:22:39 1791102 Link 0 |
Hi JJ, welcome to lovely Yorkshire. I'm from the Hugh O Neills club in Leeds, we'd be the biggest outfit in Leeds. We're an ambitious club and former All Britain Champions. We have had a very successful year this year, winning the Senior League, Junior Championship and 9 a side tournament. All going to form, we'll add the Senior Championship to our haul on Sunday. If you're at the match on Sunday come over and say hi, we're a good sociable bunch. We'll be in the Kerry colours. HONeymonster (UK) - Posts: 2 - 25/09/2015 20:53:50 1792511 Link 0 |
How did the match go? Couldn't make it over on Sunday. Any club activity over the winter? Champing at the bit to get going... JJMcB (Antrim) - Posts: 6 - 29/09/2015 21:05:39 1793942 Link 0 |
As can be seen elsewhere on here, St. Benedicts lost the final by a point in a very closely fought game, so the playing side is over for the year for us. However, the off-season gives us the opportunity to do other things, especially on the social and development sides. One particularly exciting venture coming on board over this winter, get in touch for more info. Carnaross (None) - Posts: 189 - 30/09/2015 08:19:36 1794001 Link 0 |

Long time no hear, JJMcB. St. Benedicts are having their AGM on Sunday, February 7 at 1.00pm at the Leeds Irish Centre. Plans for the upcoming season will be more clear after that although games should start around the middle of March. I know some of the lads play five-aside soccer on a Monday evening in Leeds - I'm sure you'd be welcome. Carnaross (None) - Posts: 189 - 04/01/2016 08:35:09 1814351 Link 0 |
