Warwickshire County Hurling 2014

DrDan, why don't you give it a rest.

Your apparent surprise that there are no longer any FG players on the Warwickshire team is surprising in itself.

Whether Warwickshire sought permission to play them this year or go with what it has within the County was a decision it had to take. It presumably considered the medium and longer term future of the County team and not just the next few months.

You have to accept and respect the decision it took. Good luck to all of the FG players and particularly those who represented Warwickshire, but things move on and changes occur.

On a slightly different point:

Once the Provincial Council had amended the club championship this was always on the cards. The Warwickshire Hurling Championship has been undermined and some of the clubs competing in it decided to drop out.

Even in the dark days of the late 1980's Warwickshire kept its hurling championship going, even when it was down to a couple of teams, the County team couldn't buy a win, its clubs were being well beaten by their London & Herts counterparts and then with the Gloucs, Lancs & Herts championships folding. To see one of its competitions treated like this by the Provincial Council asks a few questions of the value placed on it at Provincial level, but hey ho............................FG and JM are replacing 140 mile round trips (Birmingham/Manchester) with journeys to London to play in the Provincial Cup, which will obviously be their priority....................that will encourage young local lads to take up the game??!?!!

The real promotion of hurling in the rest of Britain will mainly be done by the other clubs (such as RC, SB, EGB in Warwickshire) where novices will get a chance to play matches and learn the game without getting taken to the cleaners (I appreciate JM's record of local born players but they will have to opt for tried & proven for FG or London games)................and their reward?

That was a lovely rant. Truely was. Im not surprised at all. Been the same for as many years as times you go off the point.
Good effort of a response. Because madmick supports your utter randomness and besides the point comments are laughable.
Cut off your nose to spite your facem

Will Sky be showing Warwickshire hurling matches this summer.Another Leitrim v Warwickshire match should make for great viewing and surely enhance the reputation of the game on the continent.

Cats out of the bag then. For "Laughable" and "rant" read "something I don't agree with".

Your opinion wont change whatever anyone says

Lancashire hurling now exists again. This forced Warwickshire into making a decision and both need to stand on their own two feet.

I repeat "Give it a rest" mate. What's done is done.

(NB If Warwickshire wanted to get lads from another county so that they would have a good chance of winning the Lory Meagher Cup again, maybe Clare, Cork or Kilkenny would be a better bet?)

Goos luck to Lancashire & Warwickshire

Again hard luck to the lads. Very hard place to go and win as you found out last year as well.
