Train Station to pitch

(Oldest Posts First)

Thinking of getting train from Dublin to Carrick on Saturday. The train station appears to be on Roscommon side of bridge and pitch on Dublin Road. Is this correct and roughly how long would it take to walk?. Any recommended watering holes along the way?.

About a 10-15 minute walk to Gings. Great beer garden there. It's at the bridge. Then about another 10-15 minute walk to the ground from there

It's a fair walk from train station to pairc Sean. Pubs along the way are glancys, gings and landmark is the direct route. Glancys, gings, cryan's, oarsman, anchorage, burkes, armstrongs, flynns, dunnes, the poitin still, the bush, paddys, the swan, Murtaghs, the venue is the scenic route through Main Street. Enjoy!

If ya bypass the local watering holes it's a 10 min walk!

I do it regular with a gear bag from train to pitch

Mind you as the lads say the sceinic route is also a good option

Good luck Saturday and enjoy Carrick

The train is due in Carrick shortly after 3 so no need to go direct to pitch. Thanks for the replies.

Looking at Google maps its a good 30 mins walk going direct. Dragging the route through the town its a total of 2.7km - 35 mins.

Delay getting off train, perhaps a few minutes late etc etc. about an hour to spare I'd say, barely time to get a half-dozen in.

You've talked a lot of crap on here 94allstar but saying it's a 10 minute walk from the train station to Pairc Sean tops it all

Are there two stands in the grounds, I was led to believe there was only one ?? Are they both the full length of the pitch?

There is one main stand, recently built. There are seats on the opposite side too, about 10 rows deep the full length of the pitch. There is a terrace directly behind those seats and also terraces at both ends.
Hope you enjoy the match and Carrick town.

Yes Sean mac your right im sorry it takes me 13 minutes twice a week from the station to pairc Sean carpark

With my gear bag

Maybe im just fitter than most of the daily regulars in pairc Sean

I only carry a mere 11 and a half stone compared to some of the 25-30 range bracket. That are a familiar sight in leitrim gaa

I think it's great to see laois back in pairc Sean this year after the good game they gave us last year

And if the rain stays away the town will be awash with Donegal and laois ladies

Murtaghs is the spot upstairs is where all the local talent will be

Good luck to both teams tomorrow

A good half hour walk. Plenty of good spots for a jar on the way so give yourself an hour to be safe. Hope it's a good game. Safe journey !
