Mayo Senior Football Championship Round 3:
Group 1: Garrymore V Belmullet Venue: Ballina
A big tie for both teams to avoid the relegation play offs. Belmullet have chance of reaching the 1/4 finals and be disappointed to throwaway the last game V The Neale. Ryan O'Donoghue out for the year and Chris Barrett transferred away are 2 big losses. Garrymore have been very unlucky last minute goal conceded V The Neale and push Ballaghaderreen all the way.
Belmullet by 1.
Ballaghaderreen V The Neale Venue: Ballindine
An historic 1st year for the Neale club 3 points out of a possible 4. They need a draw to ensure an 1/4 final spot or hope Belmullet lose. The pressure is off The Neale as they safe for Senior football in 2021 so all about embracing the experience. Ballaghaderreen didn't get anything easy the last round V Garrymore but the experience will stand to them.
Ballaghaderreen by 4.
Group 2: Bohola Moy Davitts V Aghamore Venue: Ballaghaderreen
Moy Davitts need a result to avoid relegation play offs as they survive last year just about. Aghamore will be delighted with the progress they have made this year and now need to be consistent going forward by winning this tie. 3 points out of a possible 4 is a great return.
Aghamore by 3.
Ballintubber V Davitts Venue: Ballinrobe
County champion Ballintubber should come through this tie easy they have hammered Moy Davitts away and Davitts are much the same level. Davitts need a big result to have any chance of getting the 1/4 final but very unlikely against a top opposition.
Ballintubber by 6.
Group 3: Kiltane V Claremorris Venue: Knockmore
It's been a poor championship for both teams and they have been well beaten by both Ballina & Knockmore. A win will ensure survival for Senior football in 2021 Claremorris once again have been struggling to make the breakthrough to challenge Senior championship. Kiltane are renowned for surviving Senior football for over 40 years bar 2013.
Kiltane by 1.
Knockmore V Ballina Stephenites Venue: Crossmolina
It's great to see North Mayo teams getting stronger again but they are coming out of a poor group. This game will stand for both teams as they prepare for the 1/4 finals. Will Padraic O'Hora stay true to his word of stating they will beat Knockmore!
Ballina by 2.
Group 4: Westport V Castlebar Mitchels Venue: Breaffy
This is going to be a classic and it's a crying shame that no supporters or neutral supporters will be aloud to attend. The twitter feeds will be hot for the updates. It's a big year for Castlebar under new management from Tuam, while Westport aiming to make the breakthrough in Senior football.
Castlebar Mitchels by 2.
Breaffy V Charlestown Sarsfields Venue: Claremorris
Another classic and Breaffy made a big statement last time out V Castlebar to show they mean business after there slip up V Westport. Breaffy have the talent and potential to win a county title but consistent is now the key going forward. There is less attention on Charlestown will suit them and very few expected to draw Westport last time out. Charlestown can't be taken for granted.

Senior-
Garrymore V Belmullet - Garrymore by 3, there slip up against The Neale in round 1 really cost them
Ballaghaderreen V The Neale - Ballagh by 6, Neale real first senior test, not sure they handle Ballagh power and running, but they should still get into a quarter final
Bohola Moy Davitts V Aghamore - Aghamore by 3
Ballintubber V Davitts - Tubber by 6
Kiltane V Claremorris - Claremorris by 1
Knockmore V Ballina Stephenites - both might rest lads or not risk anyone with niggles, will go with Ballina by 2
Westport V Castlebar Mitchels - very hard to call, Westport need Keane to be playing, Castlebar by 1
Breaffy V Charlestown Sarsfields - Breaffy by 2
Intermediate- Swinford V Louisburgh - Louisburgh have been disappointing but will go for them by 2
Bonniconlon V Kiltimagh - Kiltimagh have also been disappointing but with Bonni through, Kilti by 3
Mayo Gaels V Burrishoole - Burrishoole biggest disappointment, should be doing better, Mayo Gaels by 1

Islandeady V Hollymount/Carramore - Holly by 6
Parke/Keelouges/Crimlin V Balla - Parke by 2

Eastern Gaels V Ardagh - Ardagh by 6
Kilmeena V Ballycroy - Kilmeena 10+
Killala V Lacken Sarsfields - Killala by 7
Tourmakeady V Kilmaine - Kilmaine 10+ (Possibly 10+ in card count too:) )

Fair play lads for your predictions this week. I enjoy reading them and thanks for sharing your knowledge of the club scene. Footie16 had a good stab at it. Tommy123 not as good this week but looking forward to your predictions again for next weekend. For what its worth my 3 teams who will be happy this weekend are: Senior - Westport. I didn't except them to beat Castlebar as comfortably as they did. Intermediate. - Ballinrobe. Young team gutsy win against crossmolina. Junior. - Eastern Gaels. Beating Ardagh (albeit without james carr) to top group straight out of junior b. Teams who will be disappointed Senior- Claremorris. Flatter to deceive yet again Inter- burrishoole/ ballyhaunis. Gone from contenders last year to winless this year. Junior - Ardagh. Slip up against e gaels has landed them a quarter final v kilmaine

Well what a weekend of high drama that was! Well done lads on your previews, thanks for sharing you club knowledge. Footie16 got more right this week than tommy123, so looking forward to both your predictions again for next weekend. For what its worth heres my take on the positives / negatives from the weekend: Senior - Westport. I didn't expect them to beat castlebar (never mind so convincingly) Inter - Ballinrobe. Youthful team who dug it out v crossmolina. Junior - E Gaels. Top the group first year out of Junior B after beating Ardagh (albeit without J Carr)
Senior - Claremorris. Relegation battle again after starting with high hopes Inter - Burrishoole/Ballyhaunis. Contenders last year to winless this year Junior - Ardagh. After their slip up to E gaels they now face Kilmaine in quarters.
My winners from here. Ballintubber. Holly/Carra. Kilmaine

Great weekend of football. Watched the Ballina Knockmore game on Mayo GAA tv- Knockmore must be sickened, on top for 75% of the game, Ballina only kept in it from a lucky goal. But when Ballina brought in Tracey and started playing with confidence, Knockmore were no match for them- serious full-forward line when they got going. They'll be a tough beat by any team if they play like that for even half a game.
The Neale must be delighted- through by the skin of their teeth, and who'd expect anything less than high drama from them!
Ballagh or Ballintubber look best placed for Moclair. Although Breaffy and Ballina might have something to say about that yet. Ballagh Breaffy the clash of the quarter-finals for me.
Intermediate- Good comeback by Ardnaree, Kiltimagh were dominant. Impossible to pick a winner yet, Cross, H/C, Ballinrobe all looking strong. Savage stuff from Lahardane to beat Ballyhaunis with a last-minute goal (Ah Ref has a video posted of it).
Junior- looking like a Kilmaine Kilmeena final. Great win by Eastern Gaels, Ardagh up against it now in the quarters against Kilmaine. Kilmeena easy win, and Shrule are coming in nicely under the radar- Glenamoy isn't an easy place to go to and get a win. Achill Kilmeena should be a good game too, there'll be some battering at it- Have the paddywagon on standby.
Predictions: Westport vs The Neale- Westport by 5. Can't see The Neale sticking with the speed of Westport. Ballagh vs Breaffy. Ballagh by 1 in a tight game. Ballintubber vs Knockmore. Ballintubber by 7+. Expect it to be tight for the first half hour. Ballina vs Aghamore- Ballina by 4.
Relegation- Moy Davitts
Inter Kiltimagh vs Cross. Cross by 2. Should have at least had a draw at the weekend- had a point disallowed that would have made the difference, according to midwest. Hollymount vs Bonni. H/C by 6+. End of the road for Bonni this year, done well to get out of their group Ballinrobe vs Ardnaree Ballinrobe by 2. Ardnaree can always pull something special out, but Ballinrobe are hitting their stride this year Mayo Gaels vs Balla- A right battle, could go either way. Balla after extra time I'd say. Although I'd say whoever keeps the most players on the field will win.
Relegation - Swinford
Junior Eastern Gaels vs Kilcommin - Eastern Gaels by 2. Could go either way, Eastern Gaels up and coming, but Kilcommin are always a hard physical team. Kilmeena vs Achill - Kilmeena by 3-5. Kilmeena have too much quality to lose this, unless they get sucked in. Shrule vs Killala- Shrule by 5. Should comfortably beat Killala Kilmaine vs Ardagh - Kilmaine by 5+ Can't see anyone coming near Kilmaine this year, especailly not an Ardagh team who lost to Eastern Gaels.

Mayo Junior B Exclusive Championship Round 1:
Group 1: Kilmovee Shamrocks V Ballycastle
The biggest factor in this new Exclusive B Championship will the clubs have the interest to win? It's an opportunity for all small clubs to achieve something! Both Ballycastle & Kilmovee will be the favorites for this competition. Kilmovee will be disappointed not to get the Exclusive A quarter finals while Ballycastle had a tough group in Cill Chomain & Shrule/Glencorrib.
Ballycastle by 2.
Moygownagh V Ballycroy
Both teams know each other well from playing in North Mayo competitions. This level will be favorable for Moygownagh but for Ballycroy they were unlucky to lose by 2points V Killala in the Exclusive A despite dominating the game.
Ballycroy by 5.
Group 2: Kilfian V Lacken Sarsfields
A North Mayo derby so both team would have played underage level under Naomh Padraig. No disrespect to both team but this competition is exactly what these club should be aiming as they are small rural clubs with low population. It be a ding dong affair.
Kilfian by 5.
Tourmakeady V Bye

Mayo Junior Football Exclusive Championship Quarter Finals:
Cill Chomain V Eastern Gaels Venue: Knockmore
A setback for Cill Chomain in the last round losing at home V Shrule/Glencorrib so must go back to the drawing board and refocus on this in form Eastern Gaels side. Eastern Gaels are on hot form winning the their group with a 100% record. Eastern Gaels have nothing to lose as they aim to keep progressing. Pressure on Cill Chomain.
Cill Chomain by 2.
Kilmaine V Ardagh Venue: Swinford
Tie of the round Kilmaine will be fresh going into this round after resting players in their win over Tourmakeady in their final group game. Ardagh will be disappointed not to have won their group after their defeat to Eastern Gaels but it could be a wake up call for Ardagh. James Carr need to be back for this game and he is desperately unlucky with injuries down through the year.
Kilmaine by 3.
Kilmeena V Achill Venue: Newport
An West Mayo derby Kilmeena are flying and hot favorites for the title meanwhile Achill are a bogey to Kilmeena as Achill defeated Kilmeena in the 2018 Junior Semi Final while very few expected Achill to beat them. I'm still convinced that Kilmeena should win.
Kilmeena by 4.
Killala V Shrule/Glencorrib Venue: Kiltimagh
Killala will be happy to be where they are after there lucky win V Ballycroy and easy win over Lacken. Shrule/Glencorrib are in a good position as there no hype on them to win the Junior title as all the attention is on Kilmeena & Kilmaine. They had an impressive win away to Cill Chomain whom I expected to lose.
Shrule/Glencorrib by 5.

My winners from here. Ballintubber. Holly/Carra. Kilmaine" Trying to predict the games is good fun, hard enough to call but even harder this year, not much to go by. Castlebar were very disappointing, seemed to have no plan and players spilling ball and running into trouble. Some amount of pace in westport team. From watching the Ballina vs Knockmore game, I cant see either winning the county. Ballina have a bit more of flair or players that will do something out of nothing, Knockmore solid team, good forwards on paper but all seem to be same type player. Havent seen Ballintubber play yet but id see them as winning it outright. Intermediate - you would think Hollymount will win it maybe but few teams in the mix. I think the winners will come from the side of the draw, so Kilti or Crossmolina in the mix. Other side Ballinrobe or Mayo Gaels, i prob go for Mayo Gaels over Ballinrobe to come out of that side of the draw. Brobe are good young team but they are inconsistent and dont think they have a good defence. Mayo Gaels have good all round team and can see them making a final. Junior - Kilmaine cant bottle it again, they trying to keep hype down, nothing coming out of them, not much online which is to be expected as they have got carried away in previous years so could be ready to do it this year. They havent been tested at all yet but thats not there fault either. Ardagh even with James Carr wont be able for them. They will win it out. Kilmeena are a good attacking team, could have bet Kilmaine last year so think thats why people have them 2nd favourites, good game between themselves and Achill, Achill will run them close. Shrule/Glen going well, young team, no one expecting anything from them, but i can see them in a final vs Kilmaine.

Mayo Intermediate Football Championship Quarter Finals:
Crossmolina Deel Rovers V Kiltimagh Venue: Ballina
It's getting harder to predict the winners each week but the excitement is building all the time. I don't think there much between them Kiltimagh would be slight favorite considering they were so close in the 2016-2019 era. Crossmolina lost to Ballinrobe the last round probably shadow boxing but they need to get out of Intermediate fast to return to Senior but can't afford any more slip ups.
Crossmolina Deel Rovers by 2.
Ardnaree Sarsfields V Ballinrobe Venue: Islandeady
Ballinrobe are going very well under top manager Pete Warren but there no safety net now straight knockout. Ardnaree I mention last week have now conceded 8 goals in 3 championship games and yet still in the championship urgently need to tighten up the backs if they want to go far.
Ballinrobe by 4.
Mayo Gaels V Balla Venue: Claremorris
Local rivals and near neighboring clubs. Both teams will meet in the championship for first time since the 1994 Senior Championship Quarter Finals which Balla prevail by 4. There be no doubt that both set of supporters will be trying to climb over the wall in Claremorris next. A even match tie Mayo Gaels are flying and Balla whom i expected to lose V Parke/K/C. Form will mean nothing the next day but motivation shouldn't be a problem.
Balla by 1.
Hollymount/Carramore V Bonniconlon Venue: Swinford
The favorites V the 8th favorite of the championship. Hollymount/Carramore are flying but can be caught on the hop but must take 1 game at a time. Darren Coen is banging in goals. Bonniconlon have nothing to lose but paid the price by resting the goalkeepers and a few players V Kiltimagh the last round but they will need there strongest 15 the next day.
Hollymount/Carramore by 5.
Relegation play offs: Swinford V Burrishoole Venue: Parke
A very poor year for Burrishoole considering they were preparing for a Intermediate Semi Finals last year. They need to win ASAP as relegation is a dog fight. Swinford have been poor in recent years and have been avoiding the drop to Junior. They caught Ballinrobe in last year relegation play/offs so they be hoping to catch Burrishoole on the hop the next day.
Burrishoole by 3.
Ballyhaunis V Islandeady Venue: Ballinrobe
A similar tie to the above Burrishoole V Swinford. Ballyhaunis were only a matter of minutes of playing Senior football last year Intermediate Final. Islandeady have been poor in this grade since returning to Intermediate in 2012. Anything can happen in relegation play offs so it's important to win quickly.
Ballyhaunis by 3.

Mayo Senior Football Championship Quarter Finals:
Ballintubber V Knockmore Venue: Castlebar live on RTE2 Saturday 5pm.
Very exciting games in store. Knockmore will be disappointed to throwaway the lead V Ballina the last round after dominating the match, the chips are down but there nothing better then proving themselves the next day against the county champion. Ballintubber have captain Brian Murphy and Cillian O'Connor in doubt the next day but they will be still hard to stop.
Ballintubber by 3.
Breaffy V Ballaghaderreen Venue: Castlebar live on RTE2 Saturday 7pm.
Another classic to look forward to. Breaffy were looking in doubt after losing to Westport in round 1 but have recovered. They need to look after Andy Moran, Cormac Doohan and co as they were lucky not to concede more goals V Charlestown last round. I'm surprised that Liam Irwin is committing to soccer this as Breaffy need the big bear up front. Ballaghaderreen are on hot form and very determined to get back fighting for the title as they miss their chance in last year final.
Breaffy by 2.
Ballina Stephenites V Aghamore Venue: Castlebar live on Mayogaatv.
Will Padraig O'Hora keep to his word! Ballina had a lucky escape V Knockmore last round, they are on form but can't afford to be behind big lead like the last round going forward against the likes of Ballintubber & Breaffy. Aghamore are progressing nicely and cannot be underestimated after drawing Ballintubber away. Credit to Aghamore they have been playing well without top Mayo defender Brendan Harrison.
Ballina Stephenites by 3.
Westport V The Neale Venue: Castlebar live on Mayogaatv.
So Westport had the bottle to knock Castlebar out by 7 points so people have take notice. They have been a breath of fresh air to watch lovely football. The Neale are having a great year and very few expected that The Neale would be in the last 8 including myself. The Neale have absolutely nothing to lose as it was all about survival in Senior but they can embrace themselves the next day.
Westport by 6.
Relegation play offs:
Claremorris V Charlestown Sarsfields Venue: Ballyhaunis
Claremorris have been very disappointing in this year Championship and they enter their 4th relegation play offs in 6th season. They are to depended on James "Shocks" Shaughnessy and Conor Diskin. Charlestown were unlucky to be in the group of death but they certainly were no pushovers drawing Westport losing 1 and 4 to Breaffy/Castlebar respectively. Paul Towey is on hot form and Tom Parsons getting back to his old self.
Charlestown Sarsfields by 3.
Bohola Moy Davitts V Garrymore Venue: Charlestown
Moy Davitts had the chances to upset Aghamore in the last round but were playing catch up for most of the evening. The 2017 Intermediate Champion survive by the skin of their teeth last year by Hollymount/Carramore so must do it all again. Garrymore were unlucky to lose by a late to goal by The Neale and a point to Ballaghaderreen but there no excuses now as they need to win fast they are the 3rd longest Senior team in Mayo behind Ballina & Knockmore.

Mayo Exclusive Junior B Championship Round 2:
Group 1: Ballycastle V Moygownagh
Both teams got off to a losing start last week so both be eager to get the 2 points fast. Ballycastle are the top 3 in this competition but suffer a set back last week V Kilmovee. Moygownagh beaten at home to Ballycroy.
Ballycastle by 6.
Ballycroy V Kilmovee Shamrocks
Both teams off to a great start last week but both need to secure a win to avail the 1/4 final spot. Ballycroy have not played in the their home pitch in recent years playing in Belmullet & Achill grounds so losing home advantage is a big set back.
Kilmovee Shamrocks by 2.
Group 2:
Lacken Sarsfields V Tourmakeady
Results haven't been good for Lacken and confidence won't be great either. Tourmakeady were playing Senior football in 2013 so this is the further grade down they can enter but they are the favorite for this competition.

Mayo Exclusive Junior Football Championship Semi Finals:
Shrule/Glencorrib V Kilmeena Venue: Islandeady
It's no surprise to see both teams in the semi finals as they are the top 4 but who is going to get the final? Kilmeena have been progressing every year and will feel they have a great chance. Shrule/Glencorrib relegated from Intermediate last year will be eager to get back up quickly as possible. I'm thinking it's going to be a South Mayo derby final.
Shrule/Glencorrib by 2.
Kilmaine V Cill Chomain Venue: Ballina
Another tie that many experts expected to see in the last 4. It's Kilmaine county title to lose and should be playing Intermediate football but facts don't lie. Cill Chomain coming on nicely with the pressure on Kilmaine. They will feel they can upset Kilmaine.

Mayo Intermediate Football Championship Semifinals:
Hollymount/Carramore V Kiltimagh Venue: Castlebar
Hollymount/Carramore are flying with Darren Coen scoring more goals for fun. Bonniconlon was always going to be a walkover but Kiltimagh will be there biggest test for Holly/Carramore. Kiltimagh were 7 down last week V Crossmolina and came back to win by 4. Kiltimagh are slowing progressing after a slow start with the two draws against Swinford & Louisburgh. It will be a big test!
Hollymount/Carramore by 2.
Balla V Ballinrobe Venue: Castlebar
Ballinrobe got nothing easy V Ardnaree last week as they were push all the way and it may benefit Ballinrobe now. A young team going well under Pete Warren. Balla probably the 4th favorites for the Intermediate title may suit them to the ground. They overcome Neighbour's Mayo Gaels last week. Both teams will feel they can beat each other!
Ballinrobe by 4.
Intermediate Relegation Final:
Islandeady V Swinford
There no surprises that both teams are in this relegation final as they are both poor in this grade in recents years. Islandeady have been Intermediate since 2012 while Swinford been Intermediate since 2005. It be tight affair as there not much between them.

Senior Breaffy vs Westport - Breaffy I think were lucky that Ballagh had no luck against them. Drake injury, Hanley red card and he was playing well and hitting posts, i think Ballagh would have won if it wasnt for the red card, Andy was flying it, Breaffy full back line couldn't tie him down. Breaffy still had to put in a shift to beat them and they eventually wore them down. I think breaffy lack good defenders and no great scoring forward, they have power and a few quality footballers. Aidan at full forward will cause damage and westport would only have Keane that could possibly mark him. Westport have huge potential, pace in every line and players to bring on that are just as good as the lads they be replacing. There a young team so probably wont reach potential for a few years, they will be inconsistent but still good enough to beat whats in front of them. I think Westport by 4
Ballina vs Knockmore What a tough game to call, local derby and in a derby form goes out the window, they are well able to beat each other(physically and on scoreboard) Both would be weakest in defence so both have to protect there defences. Knockmore will have extra confidence after beating Tubber and there forwards were moving well. Ballina dominant over Aughamore but everyone expected that. Ballina have more game changers than Knockmore i think so thats why id be edging towards Ballina. Ballina by 2
Relegation Claremorris vs Moy Davitts - relegation final are hard games to play in, its important to be right mentally and right attitude, you will have lads that wont be fully focused or half arsed because its relegation. I think Moy Davitts had there last kick last year and Claremorris will win. Claremorris by 3
Intermediate Ballinrobe vs Balla - Balla are flying it, far play to them, might have had bit of luck against Mayo Gaels but they won it. They are solid team and Flanagan if hes on form will knock over long distance frees which is a huge benefit to have. Ballinrobe are young and pacy and are going well, and like any young team are inconsistent and will just beat whats in front them and wont reach potential for few years. They have scorers on team and O Brien is good from frees, they are suspect at the back and if there can hold Balla and not foul they will win. Ballinrobe by 3
Holly/Carra vs Kiltimagh Hard to know what Kiltimagh will do, most were writing them off and not all going well there either but seems to suit them. Good comeback last weekend and they are a solid team and having Lavin who hits long range scorers is very important for them. Holly/Carra are moving nicely and not huge amount of talk coming out of there, big favourites from the start and have lived up too it so far. Alot of good players there, 2 Coens are too good for this level, Stephen keep everything ticking over and of course Darren then keep scoreboard ticking over. Holly/Carra by 3
Relegation Islandeady vs Swinford Hard place to be for both teams, Swinford put up good fight in there group and again against Burrishoole. Isandeady havent got going at all, missing players..ill go for Swinford but anythinb can happen in relegation final Swinford by 2
Junior Kilmaine vs Cill Chomain Kilmaine flying it, Ardagh did ok but never looked like coming close to them. Kilmaine do win alot of frees that Barrett does knock over majority of them. Thet have pace with 2 Mullins, Fahey, Hession and its hard to keep them all quiet esp for Junior teams. I do think they are weak at the back but will they be tested at junior level.. Cill chomain are decent team, few big powerful players and a bit of pace that can cause trouble, Healy is a great forward inside. If Ruddy is on form with frees thats another plus for them. They should be able to give Kilmaine a game for a while but Kilmaine will knock in goal or 2 to pull away. Only team that can beat Kilmaine is themselves though as proved by themselves the last few years. Kilmaine by 6
Shrule/Glen vs Killmeena Killmeena 2nd favourites and have showed why, they have being going well in all there games. Good solid team, that run the ball but also let the ball in when its on, Keaveny is playing well. Again like alot teams they are suspect at the back, when they do attack they attack in numbers and leave themselves open at the back. Shrule/Glen got a scare against Killala, big pitch and a wind behind them Killala started quick and got off to a great start, but when Shrule got too grips with Killala setup of 2 or 3 sweepers they did ok. Shrule worked a few great scores and there defence was very good. Mcghee and Cawley in the forwards are going well and getting scores. They were down to 14 for most of 2nd half also. So maybe that game might give them the kick teams need to stay focused. Ill go for Shrule/Glen in this one Shrule/Glen by 2
