I would just like to congratulate Neil on what a terrific job he is doing for the county at the moment. His hunger and desire to succeed is phenomenal he's and true leader who doesn't suffer fools gladly. I hope that he can inspire the next generation of saffrons to great things. He is our superstar that the county has been calling out for and I just wanted to give the man some recognition he's so truely deserves. It just shows you what hard work can do, Neil by all accounts only started hurling at 16 years old and with a Cavan mother and a father from Roscommon, neither hurling strongholds, it just goes to show you where hard work can take you. Best of luck to our captain and our county in this year's championship.

Antrim's most consistent player by far. Thank you Neil, good luck for the Championship.

Have to say i'm impressed by how he handles the captains role in the press, everything he says is positive and he also backs this up on the field of play. Maybe others could follow his lead, others whos county careers have been reduced to preaching in a local rag about how it should be done, instead of actually doing it themselves.

Turfcutter - Pathetic. If that's all you have to offer, don't bother. Positive role models are exactly what we need for our young gaels to aspire to.

So far this season the whole panel and management have been a credit to the county. A number of new players introduced and while we may not be All Ireland winners, no-one can question the organisation, commitment and determination of all involved. Progress!

Raider I suppose there is a dose of reality in your ill disguised confusion but apart from that I was just wondering how a thread that was started to highlight the undoubted talents of one player, can so quickly be used as a reason to launch a shameless attack on another, he who is still one of the greatest natural talents in the game. I suppose it's a tribute in itself that all roads lead back to him. His latest column in The Antrim Post (I'll refer to it more politely than some) will be of interest to many as it clears up any confusion about his non-return to the Antrim squad. A simple case of, if your not wanted your not wanted. Fair enough. I do hope the "togetherness" taked about in the Antrim squad is there in abundance, as it just got shot through the heart AGAIN on this thread.

The TallGypsy - Just check out who was first to get the digs in. The merits of role models, consistent players, panel commitment/spirit/determination/respect have all been thoroughly discussed on another board. Regardless of Saturday's result, which we all hope goes in our favour, we are not going back to the previous situation. People are entitled to pen their 'opinions' but of course our hurling world is a small one where not much happens that we don't know about. So, we can all formulate our own views with 'all' the facts. No going back!
