Omagh Ladies and their Championship

(Oldest Posts First)

Omagh Senior Ladies played an unregistered player throughout their championship. How did they manage to retain the title and still compete in the Ulster Championship. Omagh do not deserve this championship and should not be allowed to play in the Ulster. Can I also just point out that it wasn't just one player it was at least 6 with u16's involved aswell so no mistake was made. Obviously the County Board has a few unfair people but imagine how sick Arboe is feeling now and also the teams that Omagh have beat in the championship. During the year a minor championship was taken away from a club for the same reason. County Board have made a joke of them selves!!

There is nothing like half baked knowledge of a situation to make sweeping statements. First of all Central Council put the blame fairly and squarely on the County Board. Omagh had tried to register the player on the servasport system but due to CB not fully clearing on the system the registration did not complete fully. It was only leading up to the final that Omagh became aware of the issue and completed the registration process on the system thereby notifying the county board as all registrations send a notification e-mail to CB. If Omagh were trying to hide something or blatantly breach the rules then they would have taken no action. Clearly Central Council were of the same view and used the "natural justice" clause to allow Omagh to continue as champions.

With regards to Ardboe, they were fairly well beaten by a better team on the night and can have little cause for complaint although I must say I was impressed with a number of their players and have no doubt in future that they will win a championship.

Finally, with regards to the U16s, Omagh received their punishment and accepted it although the County Board's inadequacy was again cited as a major cause of the issue.

Was it not a random check that brought about the unregistered players? don't think you's are as innocent as making out

The County board should only act on an appeal by another club or on a referee report. There are no grounds for random checks

It was laughable that the Ladies GFA forced all clubs to pay their bills using Paypal..no wonder registrations were difficult
