This Galliagan lad from Cavan that plays in midfield for Ballybay seems like a good player and midfield is a problem for Monagahan so any chance that we could see him in a county jersey.

If this is true at the very least he could give the younger lads a few tips on how to find the onion bag.

Couldn't disagree more...just having him with his reputation on the pitch would force teams hands in terms of double marking. Marquee forwards need to be double marked. The more of them you have the better.

Fact is Tommy is still well able to pose a threat to any team. He played almost full game in semi final against tyrone last year and didn't put a foot wrong. If we expect to go far this year we will need all the players we can get, even if Tommy is at 70% of his best days he is still a potent threat, even for a 15 min run at the end of a game.

I refer you to an example a few years ago, when we were playing against Down in Armagh when we threw away a huge lead. An unfit Benny Coulter just back from a leg break with no training behind him came on with 10 to go and caused disarray in our defense. No one knew who was supposed to pick him up etc etc. Tommy has the power to do this still. The fact that he has an allstar adds to his power to psychologically disrupt a team.

I think Tommy's best days are behind him but he would still be a serious player to bring off the bench with 10-15 minutes to go. The Benny Coulter example is well made. Tommy would cause major headaches for the team we're playing as he might draw defensive attention away from Conor McManus. He also would rise the crowd with his introduction. DJ Carey came back to star in the 2002 All Ireland with 4 weeks training. Class is permanent.

I think if he was gonna come back, sitting out the league was a good idea. With black card suspensions, injuries, etc etc, a good panel will be necessary if we are to make an impact in the later stages of the championship. If he can get up to speed by then I would envisage thats when Malachy will want to have him in reserve.

Still we have to get over Armagh first.

Any chance this man is free and available for selection next Sunday. Have heard rumours he was back training. Could be doing with him even to just give Armagh something extra to think about.

The full squad had a run out before the Armagh game and there was no sign of Tommy.
