We have a bad performance every year to be honest. Galway last year, Roscommon the year previous, we only scraped past Sligo before that and as for London in 11.. This time we just got caught.
A few things came against us on the day also. Galway got awarded point that was wide to keep in touch when we were getting on top of them. The rain suited their blanket defence, counter attack tactics perfectly. It helped turn us over many times.
Also, the way we were being talked up as the only rival for Dublin, purely because Kerry had come up short, wasn't based on any good form from us. We bought into that too readily - we had done nothing to prove it.
Hopefully we can drive on from here and prove people wrong. So many have come out with knives for us, that should be a lesson, it should also drive us closer together. Who knows, maybe we can run into galway again at some stage this year. I for one would be relishing it.
