Not a lot you can do about nightlife college or not players will go drinking i think you found that out with the senior players this summer. St Brigids became strong because of their underage set up but they have been taken over recently by the like of Roscommon gaels,Strokestown etc.. You need good school teams in Leitrim ones that can win Connacht titles, for example Sligo are doing that and have got very close to beating Galway,Mayo and ourselves at minor level they are on verge of making a breakthrough at underage level if that happens Leitrim will really need to look at themselves.

GAA is no different than anything else in life, you get what you put in.

Analyser spot on in your summation there, you reap what you sow. Neglect of underage up until this group of under 16s is best what describes how underage setups were in Co Leitrim. Finally they put good men at the helm and see the difference it makes. But like one swallow doesn't make a summer, neither will one underage crop make a good senior team. With the likely exodus of emigrants, interest weaning due to work and college committments and injuries only 3 from this crop are likely to make it regardless how good they are. That is why the co board must ensure a conveyor belt of great teams at underage and then after 5 successful years you may have a formidable team. Otherwise these talented lads will go down as wasted talent like many before them.

The lads play Kildare this evening at 7.30 in Pairc Sean. Support for them would be good as they play the favourites for the tournament. No reason they cant win

The 9 point victory for Kildare yesterday I felt was harsh while admittedly the Lilywhites were stronger than us in most departments, Leitrim did have a lot of wides and conceded scores through lack of physicality. Kildare's no 6 and 14 were freakishly big for 16 year olds. Better feeding ground around the Curragh than our damp terrain. But on a serious note I think by minor our lads will have grown, the skill level is on par with Kildares, we have some speedy players and some really smart ones in this crop. Keep up the good work and with age the physical gap will close and we could be on par with Kildare by minor level.

Would hate to name anyone because overall they are all very good players and while O Rourke, McTague and a few others might do some of the fancy stuff they are one of the best balanced teams ever to wear the green and gold. Every player over past few games has contributed and well deserves to be on a county panel. Looks like one of the few teams that may not need much ego feeding. But who knows what the future holds.

Thank god we have something coming through. These lads should be treated like kings, keep them interested for minor and beyond . Delighted to hear they're doing well

Just to say that these lads are doing great as they played 2 hard matches on Saturday to win through to the Ted Webb final and then only lose by 9 pts 2 days later to a very strong Kildare team. Senior teams would not be expected to play matches in the same time frame.

Its good commitment and shows we have a future

The Armagh team that won the 2002 allireland came from a similar group of lads that got used to winning

Same for the crossmaglen team from 96/7 onwards

These lads are the next minor team I wonder would it be an idea to keep team and management together

Including coaches and selectors

Deal is with present U16 management is they stay the course with this present crop of players all the way to minor and as a Leitrim fan I think there is no possible way you could have better men in charge than them (Heslin, Cullen, Donohoe and McWeeney).
