Shortage of Hurling Refs in Donegal

(Oldest Posts First)

There must be a shortage of hurling refs in Donegal, I see Owen Elliott from Antrim did the two senior championship semi finals on Friday last, anyone know why?

Hurling in Donegal, what is the world coming to lol. Seriously though you would think we could find a ref within the county.

A lot of counties in Ulster do this for the hurling finals to get someone impartial in the middle.

Since late 90's i think only 2/3 Donegal men have Refereed the Donegal Senior Hurling final, 1 in 2001 or 2002 and again in 2009 or 2010.

Donegal hurling referee's have officiated in 12 out of the 14 games played in the league stages of the competition without significant incident and now when the competition reached its climax, we feel that we are unfairly excluded from refereeing and being linesmen in the county semi-finals and Final without an adequate explanation being given of why this happened.

This is calling into question our competence and our impartiality and we would like to ask if we were deemed good enough to officiate at all the matches up to the semi final stage and why we were over looked for the Semi Finals and i hear the Final now as well.

Is mise le meas
