Replying To ManusFromHeaven:  "Transfers within a county are something that should only be granted in extreme circumstances. They are a totally different set of circumstances to someone originally from Donegal and living and working way down the country.

Unless someone within the county has moved to an area lock stock and barrel, proved they have maybe bought a home, have children in school there etc- Ie proper roots sets- its just not on that someone can rent a room or apartment in an area less than an hour away from their original club, for 3mths and that is deemed a good enough reason for a transfer of club.

Should never be forgotten that Devenney had absolutely nothing to do with the town of Letterkenny.

He was a top player born into a small club and his ambitions on the county scene were gonna be far better served playing for Eunans than a club who were not senior at the time."
What club did Devenney start at?

Naomh Colmcille as well. There must be a serious lack of community spirit within that club if their players feel happy to jump ship well into their senior career.

Hi DL_Man:. See in paper that Lynch has a new transfer request in to join Gweedore.

The example of Murphy and Shovlin are interesting. Both players (along with other players obviously) managed to get their clubs up through the ranks. But what if that had not happened? What if they didn't have a decent club around them who were ambitious? They might have been lost to the county entirely, forever frustrated, and maybe drift out of the game. There are certain clubs out there who simply are not in a position to cater for a top level player in terms of training and competition they can offer.

From the reports I've read, it seem there are people in the Gweedore club not too happy with it either... so sounds fishy.
