who are the managers of the various teams this year. I heard Notts and go bragh have changed management and casements seem to have a new man at the helm. Only macs and mitchels with the same managers i think.

The county champions were beaten by a better team Sunday however were playing with a depleted squad. Casements look impressive but as hagan highlighted they always seem to start seasons strong and falter come championship time, I expect more of the same this season. Who is the new casements manager?

Can someone confirm the results from yesterday? Mcdermotts, Casements and Naomh Padraig all won I believe.
Is the Warwickshire gaa site going to be updated this year or will we have to rely on hoganstand and social media?!

Is it not the role of the PRO to update the website? Why has it not been updated at all in 2014?? Not good enough for a county that is moving forward fixtures wise.

Don't want to get anybodies hopes up...but there seems to be some action on the Warwickshire website. 2013 fixtures have changed to 2014...

Granted there aren't any fixtures there as of now, but progress...

What's going on lads ?? Very quite on here since the season has started, no banter between sidelineman or moonshine, or are you all just waiting for championship to start to make any predictions. How will the county team fair out this year with the new influx of players coming in ?? Or will they have no interest in the county setup.

I reckon you may see a lot of lads turning up this year for county team with a trip to Kilkenny in the fixtures.

RC seem to be in good form at the moment with a couple of new signings, but will they last the season ??
JM still seem to be celebrating last years success , although they have quite a few new signings.
Macs seem to be bringing through more & more of their underage lads, which can only be a good thing giving these lads opportunity's.
Barnabus seem to be struggling at the moment, have they lost a few lads ??
While EGB have a couple of wins under their belt, when usually this time of year they are struggling, but another of the clubs who bring their young lads through.

So any predictions for the league ???

Regards the County Team i understand Brendan Harkin of FM is in charge now? hopefully he can get a a good core of lads out as there is enough talent in Warwickshire now for an All Britain. All clubs in Divsion 1 should each be able to get a good group together with a few players from Divsion 2 as well to represent the county especially with the first game being over in Kilkenny.

Half way through the league season and looks like Macs are in charge of Div 1 with 4 wins, they should make the league final you would think.
RC Made a good start with good wins against Barnabus and Mitchells , be good to see them keep that going.
Mitchells, slow start but can see improvements with the talent they have second part of the league season to push RC for that league final place.
EGB and suprisingly Barnabus to fight relegation, does the team finsihing bottom go straight down or is there a play off with Division 2 winners?

Divsion 2 looks competitive anyway and good to see clubs who struggled last year like NP and Marys doing well, Brendans struggling a bit with a young team but as get more experience at higher level will improve them.

Divsion 3 looks like Finbars are going really well, can see a final between them and Josephs in that division.

Onlymessing raises a good point.

Can someone shed some light as to how exactly the three leagues and championships work this year?

For the league is it a simple case of whoever is top and whoever is bottom after the 10 rounds are crowned champions and relegated respectively? Looking at the Master fixture list there is no provision for League finals or relegation play offs

Also how exactly will the championship work, obviously there are 5 round robin stages in late June & July and in September I see there are semi finals for Senior A, Senior B and Intermediate, which would mean that it could be entirely possible for a team to lose three of their four round robin games and could still win a championship which is a strange anomoly

Can anyone clarify how exactly the format will work?

Regards the league i understand there is a league final in all 3 divisions between the top 2. I hope there is a relegation / Promotion play off then as there still is a big gap between the divisions. If NP won the league final in Div 2 would they be happy swapping places with Barnabus as its stands in Div 1 ? Can see clubs not wanting to win the final incase they become 'whipping boys' the year after!

I know if you win your league then promotion is a reward but also a bit of realism doesnt hurt!

For the championship Div 3 teams will be in the intermediate Champ.

Div 1 and Div 2 teams play in their divisions in the senior champ and play a round robin playing 4 games each.

Top 2 in Div 1 go to semi finals in Senior A.

There is 2 QF's between 3rd in Div 1 and 2nd in Div 2 and 4th Div 1 and 1st Div 2 - 2 winners of these games play the top 2 in the semis -

So quite correct the team who finish 4th Div 1 who won 1 round robin game will get to QF and could win champ losing potentially 3 games but gone are the days of straight knock outs at champ so probably best way!

Senior B champ is made uo of 5th team Div 1 and 3rd, 4th and 5th teams Div 2 in 2 semis....

Thanks for that, sheds a bit more light on it. Didn't realise there were Q/Fs in the senior championship including the senior B sides.

Watched a good game between macs and casements Sunday. Fairly evenly matched with both teams understrength. A draw would probably have been a fair result. Can see the black card being an issue with a black card shown for what should have been a red really. Saying that though the ref did well.

upthewesht, very good game last week between RC and Macs, I think Macs deserved the win after being 5 points down midway through the second half and coming back to win by 3. RC couldn't see them off.

As the black card issue, the referee had an excellent game. What with having to listen to RC mentors telling him what to do and what cards to give out.

Could do with more referee's like him, a job well done.

Wins for Macs, St Brendans and James Connollys at the Pairc today. EGB a long way behind an under-strength McDermotts team.
