A massive well done to Macs in winning the all Ireland junior 7 a side contest in Dublin yesterday! That is some achievement and it will boost their confidence if needed to face their great rival mitchells in next weeks sfc final.

Should be a bumper day of gaa as I understand B championship matches are kicking off at 12 !

It will be interesting to see if Benny McKenna will be flown back for the final as he can be a match winner for Mitchels.

Answer to earlier question to the last sfc winning team with a majority of home grown players could be St Brendan's with O malley mc Carthy Dundas brothers Mick McGowan Baxter Holeran Pluggie O Sullivan & Murphy brothers in the early to mid 90s Brendans side who appeared in 5 sfc finals

Harp46Brum,

Have Mitchel's ever flew Benna McKenna back for a game before?

Do you think they need him? Their full forward line of Garvey (1.4), Crowley (0.2) and Devlin (1.4) scored 2.10 from play in the Semi Final if my memory serves me correctly.

Regards,

Winker ;-)

Thanks for the update on the Mitchels full forward line scoring stats which make impressive reading to be honest and it does beggar the question whether McKenna is needed but he can be a real handful and what an addition even it was for an impact sub in the final next Sunday.

It would also be good if the fixtures could be placed on the co board website this evening so we know the full schedule of matches to be played next week as there are a lot of competition still to be completed this year,

My feeling on a mitchells win has now been changed after macs excellent all Ireland win at the win . Macs to win by 2 after a replay

English born players. We have had a high percentage of english born players on our team over last 20years but always had a key 6or7 irish lads to keep us winning and the best english born player there has been in Joey! Id say the casements team that won couple of championships 10 years ago had the most english born players, only irish lads that played were Paul Houston, Cassidy and Brian Higgins if my memory serves me correct!

I totally agree that Joey Dowling has been the most consistent performing English born player in warwickshire and maybe the country over the last 20 years. Joey together with Ossie and the late great Coley were the backbone of Macs major successes over the years joey's presence in the semi final to hold onto possession and to have the football brain to be positioned on the goal line to save a certain match winning goal was crucial to macs eventual victory.

The all Ireland sevens victory at the weekend was superb and the county must be proud of their efforts and it at least merits a mention on the county board website as there are not many English teams that can achieve an all Ireland victory . Well done to the Macs!

Well done to macs on their 7's success. Can see them following up this Sunday, and won't be far away in the homegrown championship.

I agree that macs are looking strong at the business end of the season and they must fancy adding to their fantastic all Ireland success this weekend.

Mitchells really need to bring their a game to the final or they will lose against the more experienced sfc side in macs.

If mitchells start well and their forwards can notch a couple of early goals then they will win but the closer and longer the match goes on . It has to be macs in my view!

Mitchels will have too much for Macs, this isn't one of the better Macs teams. Guaranteed not to finish the game with 15 men

Mitchells 15- Macs 13.

Both for points and final player count...

But will Mitchell have the strength as macs have a lot of experience at sfc

I just think after macs amazing achievements at the weekend in winning the all Ireland junior 7 a side comp that they will be very confident going into Sunday sfc showdown.

How many times over the last 20 years have we heard that macs are not looking that good but they can still beat any team on their day if they can keep their full 15 players on the pitch?

My prediction is macs to win by 3 and let's hope for another excellent match between the 2 most successful teams in the history of warwickshire gaa.

I think it could go either way to be honest macs are a very strong team and will give mitchells a good battle for it and mitchells have garvey who might get them some early goals

Little question to pose ? When was the last time time that super macs did not make it to the sfc final? It must be over over 10 15 years ago? It just shows their sfc pedigree and that Is why that they will win on Sunday in my view.

What a breath taking final 10 mins in today sfc final showcase. The majority was scrapy with play being stop constantly for injuries and for red and black and yellow cards being shown.

Macs showed their sfc power play and never say attitude with excellent free taking skills of star forward Ted Duffy and were unlucky not to win the final and mitchells final score from a very dubious free given against J Lo.

But overall a draw was probably a fair result as per the last 2 sfc finals.

Other winners today were St Brendans and roger casements.

Sfc replay next Sunday @ 330 pm

Dubious maybe, but he had put the ball over the bar anyway. Fair result but I feel Clifford or Gilbride in the back line would have made a huge difference for Mitchells or Macs if they had been on. Some very nervous defending on display. Mitchells were the classier outfit on and off the pitch today, will be looking forward to the replay. Congrats to Brendans aswell, a great season all round (except the league campaign)

I felt that the referee did an ok job but some of the decision making was baffling to say the least! Mitchells started very well and if it wasn't for a great save by the macs keeper in the first quarter Mitchels would have gone 7 clear and would have gone onto win in my view. I thought that Dom Walsh marked star striker Garvey very well and Conal Dowling had an excellent match for macs.

Mitchells are very reliant on Garvey and They missed Benny McKenna today as their forwards are missing a big target man to help Garvey.

Brendan's will be kicking themselves for their abysmal league form as they have now reached 2 Finals but find themselves relegated to Div 3 next year. Shane Kelly and Sean Mils were the stand out players for Brendan's against a very resilient St Mary's.

What a great match today the macs lads where super mitchells throught It would be a walk in the park but
macs gave them a good battle and mitchells were lucky to make a draw. the refferee did an ok job as for the
umpires where shocking and very bias in my opinion what was everyone elses opinions on the game.
