U21 championship

U21 championships starting this weekend, very hard to see a chance for manor or ballinamore coming up against teams with massive picks saying that it would be great to see one of them prevail just for doing it on their own. For me its carrigallens to lose in the B

Funnily enough I'd argue that Dromahair are the best placed team to compete with the amalgamations but unfortunately are in B competition. Dromahair still have likes of Cian Clinton , Martin Clancy,Gerry kelly and Jamie conlan so would be my favourites for B competition and the second team is also going strong so will be one of the fittest teams in either competitions.

I also think whoever wins out of the manor soh game will be dark horses as they'll be perceived underdogs with all the pressure on the multiples to perform. And don't forget who are the reigning champions. Glencar Manor wont just give up the title that easily. They should be good again with Niall Brady and James Rooney quality players. Manor will be organised and not one bit fearful of facing any team. Ballinamore would also have claims to be confident. Any U21 team that still has the calibre of player such as Matthew Murphy and Shane Moran in their ranks will be respected. They'd also have the 2011 minor championship winning group along with a few good youngsters that reached this years minor final aswell so they would be decent.

But of course St.Manachans stand out with a host of stars from their senior championship team eligible for this competition. Just off the top of my head John mulligan,Shane Quinn,Alan Mcloughlin and Eanna madden are all underage. Their minor championship winning team only strengthens their case along with a few decent Eslin recruits . I believe they were overwhelming favourites with Conor beirne leading them last year but were unable to get over Manor in the final. Could lightning strike twice with them falling just short? I think not and would expect them to pose the biggest threat to kiltoghert. However they should not look past a determined St.Francis team who are usually always very competitive in this grade.

St.Marys were traditionally strong in this group at underage but seem to have fallen down the pecking order in u21 power. They'll be confident of getting back on track this year as similarly to St.Mananachans, they hold many strong cards. Quality up and coming players such as county goalie Flynn,Michael Mcweeney, Conor Farell,Joe orourke and colm oreilly provide a base not many could match. And If you factor in their Leitrim village contingent then you have the ingredients for a formidable U21 team. However one caveat to monitor is carricks connacht involvement which could disrupt their desire for this competition.

I still expect Kilthogert gaels to win A out if properly focused with Manachans manor or ballinamore to push them close.
Dromahair to walk the B

Great game between manor and soh with ballinamore winning bye 2 points,it should have been more as ballinamore bossed the game for the full 60 minuets .The ref o grady was poor making a lot of bad calls ,destroyed a good game whistle happy.

wins for manachans, bmore and kitoghert!! i expect manachans to win it out with kiltoghert pushing close, bmore are a credit that they can get this far with such low numbers but i dont think theyll go any further, would be great if i was proven wrong

fresherman great analysis there. i would agree with another poster that Kiltoghert are probably slight favourites but St Manachans should give them a massive test. probably a repeat of the senior situation carrick and mohill based clubs should decide it but as gortlettragh in senior ballinamore are not without at chance. in b very much like intermediate it is now dromahairs to lose, saying that they also manage to lose it at intermediate level. they are defending champions and after blowing away carrigallen they have to be fairly hot favourites.

If manachans met kiltoghert in a semi and kiltoghert won

Soh v kiltoghert would be an interesting final

can't see manachans being beaten in A tho! Unless st Mary's pull something out of the bag! After that's no team will trouble them, they have too much quality in likes of Quinn and mulligan! B looks like a replay of last years final with drumkerran and dromhair.. Drumkerrans promotion could help them as a lot of the players are eligible to play u21!

U21 takes same turn as minor with 8 or 9 parishes competing in the final for 1 cup

Which club gets the cup after the final? Or does it get to move about

so now we know the final pairings. With Mohill contesting the A final and the league replay I presume that wont be played for 2 weeks. That means if it is played on Sunday week the final will be in December, disgraceful and disrespectful stuff to the young lads, no wonder its hard to keep players interested at this age. St. Brigid's did have a great win over St. Mary's I think St. Manachans (Mohill) would have loved a shot at them in the final.
The B championship has been massively one sided as Drumkeeran and Dromahair have hammered everyone in their way that should be a final worth seeing, maybe on the back of a good year Drumkeeran might have the edge there although so tough to call in a local derby.

In the end of the day talent wins games! A few clubs working together does not mean the pull in the same direction but when your destroyed your destroyed I suppose.

The A final is a hard call its a 7 or 8 parish contest

Any one of them could pull off a last minute goal and win it
