Looking forward to Saturday and Sunday's matches - I live well up into Donegal and haven't been able to get to many club matches this year. Coleraine seem to be going very well by all accounts with a young team playing good football and it makes for an interesting match-up against the experience of Ballinderry. Friends who were at the Lavey /Ballinderry game reckoned that Lavey threw it away, and wouldn't have lost if Kevin McCloy had stayed on the pitch. I was talking to one man who actually left at full-time, figuring Lavey had won it handy enough, and only found out the result the next day in work. I believe Enda Muldoon was sent off as well, so does that mean he is suspended for Sunday? If that is the case, it's bound to increase Coleraine's chances.

Help Needed

Can anyone tell me what they honestly think Colraines chances are against Ballinderry, given that Ballinderry have county players of the likes of Enda Muldoon, Kevin McGuckin, Conleith Gilligan, James Conway, Niall McCusker, Coilin Devlin, Michael McIver, Raymond Wilkinson etc,

I would have thought that they should win it easily, so I was going to put a few euro on the game. Anyone know if there are any big injuries or suspensions??? Many thanks for your help.

Lavey have no county players and were cheated out of a final by Ballinderry so yes, Coleraine have every chance.

well firstly, lavey were not cheated out of a final, they played some great football in the second half but completely lost their heads in the last 3 minutes of the game, didnt know how to keep ball and play smart and instead kicking long balls out of defence and losing it in key areas. Balinderry applied the required pressure expected at the end.

saying that, i do think coleraine have the talent to win the cship, a few county players as well of course who are coming into their best years. theres definitely a few senior titles in the team!

Predictions:
Senior-Coleraine by 2pts
Intermediate-Steelstown by 3/4
Junior- Pearses by 4

2 Ballinderry wides were awarded as points, Ballinderry ultimately won by a point. Lavey made foolish mistakes at the end of the match, but the fact remains they should have won by a point had the umpire and JJ not awarded the 2 non pojnts. Also Orlaith young O Boyle left the county panel well before the end of the National League.

Fr Ted, do i detect the age-old case of sour grapes? Lavey outplayed Ballinderry but such is the Shamrocks pedigree they shone through at the vital moments. I believe the Lavey goalkeeper also contributed to Ballinderry's appearance in the final with his hesitant kickout straight to deets, it then reached Gavin Mc Geehan who nonchalantly poked it home and of course James Conways piledriver which left Lavey bereft of their ambition to be playing on sunday. Coleraine do have a great chance, they've played the best football in the county all year and it makes for an intriguing contest tomorrow.

Woops maybe I was wrong, But a big well done to Steelstown who fought long and hard to be beat by 1 point! Well done lads for getting so far you did your club and the city of Derry proud. In my opinion some bad decisions cost the match it should of atleast been a draw but we cant cry over spilt milk. Great display put up by Castledawson and I'd like to say thanks for the great game. Well done to both teams today. Last few minutes were hard to watch. Well done Castledawson
I'm just after getting home this second because the car was locked in Rathmor car park haha so not only did we suffer a defeat but also suffered the baltic coldness of standing in Creggan for about an hour and a half! Thanks to the PSNI who located the key holder! God you couldnt make that up! What a DAY!

Also well done to Ardmore on their Junior title.

Anyone else at the Steelstown/ Castledawson game this evening? The referee was absolutely shocking. I don't like to slag off officials, it's a hard enough job at the best of times but Steelstown were absolutely robbed. At least four of Castledawson's scores were from frees given for no reason anyone could figure out. I have no connection with either club, so I have no axe to grind (I'm a Derryman living in Donegal and I follow the county team and try to get to a good few club games but my club loyalties are with the club in the town I live in). I thought Castledawson were slightly the better team but without the ref they would have kicked that game away with the number of wides they hit. Stephen Cleary for Steelstown was excellent, some really classy points in conditions that weren't great - wasn't he on the Derry minors in 2007?

Orlaith is giving me an example here. I forgot to give credit where it was due - to both teams for an exciting and entertaining game of football, or the second half at any rate, after a sluggish first half. Steelstown came back manfully and showed great heart in getting back into a game that looked to be drifting away from them; at a point up with a few minutes left they must have thought it was going to be their day. But to Castledawson's great credit, they held their nerve and kicked two excellent points to win it at the death. Both teams did themselves and their clubs proud. Pity about the ref.

Well done to Eoghan Rua Coleraine who won their first ever Senior Title today in their first ever Final appearance. Credit to the Club who came from Intermediate 3 years ago and Junior 10 years ago.
