Does Wonderboy have anything to say about the fact that Leix (even with a few Carlow men they poached) have been relegated to Division Four?

Who gives a monkies about Wonderboy and what he thinks?

Another good win today - and we gave some of the fringe players a run too.

Management deserve credit for improved displays this year. Hard to get it on this board though!

Looking at the league as a whole you would have to say regarding a definitive way of playing there has been strides. Sometimes it didnt always work but for the most part it seemed to suit the lads we have. In years gone by we would have ended the league with a whimper but good for confidence to finish strong.
in relation to yesterday, special mention to jamie clarke. Terrorised wexfords backs when he came in. Puts to bed the notion youve to be a big man to play interco.

I think management deserve credit if they earn it. You certainly don't do that by losing to London (the worst team in the country) and being out of contention with 2 rounds of competition still to play.Lets call a spade a spade here and have a bit of dignity.

Well done to the footballers and management for 3 years in a row improvement. Just looking back over the past 10 years league performances and comparing to what's happened since O' Brien took over - there has been a marked improvement!!!

Finishing positions in Div 4 2008 to 2017:

2008 7th Liam Hayes
2009 7th Liam Hayes
2010 6th Luke Dempsey
2011 5th Luke Dempsey
2012 7th Luke Dempsey
2013 7th Anthony Rainbow
2014 8th Anthony Rainbow
2015 5th Turlough O' Brien
2016 4th Turlough O' Brien
2017 3rd Turlough O' Brien
2018 ??????????

I hope they encourage O'Brien to stay - it's obvious he has a passion for his county and the players seem to respond well to him. We've has all the big names and what have they done?? The above table doesn't lie!

Looking forward to championship game vs Wexford.

I would have to say you have hit the nail on the head. He is local, knows what's happening, has players in from all angles including the divisions below senior, has broken the local nonsense whereby some clubs encouraged players not to commit and overall represents our best bet. He also has brought in expertise that seems to have a good caliber and I have hope again that we might get a few good championship games and a good 2018 and promotion at last. When you think back to 2007 and 2008 and consider the hames that was made of the pool of talent then by "names" brought in who had no experience in management - where are they now and what have they managed since? Very bad decisions.

Ah come on now.... The management deserve for credit for absolutely improving our fortunes... we have stopped shipping heavy defeats... and that's a big deal... also, look at the state of things when Turlough took over? We were the worst team in Ireland.... London was heartbreaking... a total mess up and ruined the league, but the lads bounced back instead of throwing in the towel... also, you do realise London is not in this country, don't you? Or maybe you watch so much english soccer than you got confused?

Best of luck to Minors and Seniors today.

If we turn up believing in ourselves, it's a real possibility to win both.

Great anticipation around the county, which is marvelous to see.

Are Gannon and Lawlor injured?

No congratulations to our teams to-day - surprised? Wel, I'll open the list of contributors by saying well done to our footballers who lifted the supporters in Network Cullen Park with a most exciting win. Our Minors should have won but wides don't bring victory - yet they played some very good football.
My main reason for starting this is to offer cogratulations to Brendan Murphy for the best display I've seen him give for the full 74 mins. He was
mighty, powerful and awesome! He got little protection from the referee and had to absorb tackles that were over the top. His brilliant goal at the end was a fitting conclusion to an outstanding display.

Another player, Paul Broderick, gave a man-of-the match display and his points from outer space were fit for any All Ireland. His contribution from frees was a major factor in keeping Carlow in the game early on. He was harshly sent off (although he had broken the rules) but it was obvious he was trying to make contact with the ball.

There were many other displays worthy of mention although I wouldn't like to see a repeat of the "foolin around" with the ball when we should be finishing off Wexford. We shouldn't forget either that Wex's two midfielfld players went awol and another player was sent off. But victory is sweet and it was hard luck that prevented su from scoring at least two goals.

Well done to all involved with Carlow football today. As much as I feel we were a bit hard done by in regard to the black and red cards I still believe the best team won on the day with a couple of the best players in Ireland on show in Murphy and Broderick.
Now I feel yee should make a fuss about not being able to play the dubs in your own ground. Just because they give out alot of season tickets isnt the weaker counties fault like ourselves and yourselves. It would be an absolute cauldron in Carlow if yee were to bring them down there and I personally feel it is a joke that teams drawn at home cant play at home just to suit the big knobs in GAA headquarters.
Stand up for all us weaker counties.

Firstly, well done today. A fine performance, defensively in the first half, and in score taking in the second.

Just a couple of points from your post. Wexfords 2 midfielders went AWOL ??? 1 was bizzarely given a black Card and the other was carried off. That's hardly going AWOL !!!
Brendan Murphy, a fine footballer and has been for years, got little protection from the ref ???
I must have been watching a different game !!

Anyway, best of luck against the Dubs. Someone told me today that it's in Portlaoise ?
I understood that today's winners had home advantage. I hope your people at Leinster council don't let this happen.

Well done Carlow - delighted to see you win. I feel there is a bit of affinity between Leitrim, Carlow, Wicklow, Waterford as we all seem to be stuck in Division 4 in perpetuity! Any big performances in the championship acts as a kind of encouragement to the others, as we are capable of pulling off shocks from time to time.

Great stuff - said last night that Carlow would be very dangerous opponents to Wexford and could quite easily pull off shock. Talk is cheap as I must admit I didn't put my money where my mouth was (mostly because I think Wexford are a good team - which makes your win all the better)!

Well done again.

Brialliant brilliant stuff today. Fantastic displays all over the pitch but for me the more I see of this team and watching the line the more it becomes apparent to me that Stephen Poacher has made a huge difference. The system requires huge work rate and discipline but it's clear the players now believe in it and it's working.

Thought we were well worth the win and with a bit of luck would have had more than two goals. We certainly worked openings for about five goals and gave away two sloppy goals. The concession of two goals from high balls just kicked in more in hope would be a worry but at least it'll hardly be Dublin's style to just kick it in high but I'm sure they'll probably have other ways of causing us a problem or two!

We were probably a bit lucky with Waters black card which seemed harsh, I don't think it was a deliberate trip. Still even at that stage Wexford were coming under severe pressure to hold Carlow who were clearly the better team from about 15 minutes in and ran the legs off Wexford after that. Broderick's display was superb and his sending off was also very harsh, he was stretching for a ball he had lost control of but no malice at all in it, just an honest attempt to retrieve it.

Having to play the Dubs in Portlaoise, which wasn't deemed suitable to host the Dubs last year but now is, is a disgrace and without causing a distraction for the players needs to be fought by the county board starting first thing tomorrow morning. To hell with Dublin's season ticket holders who it seems are entitled to a seat, when Arsenal played Sutton in FA Cup they had to go Sutton's tiny home ground and got only a couple of thousand tickets and make do, and they did.
