Predictions for winner of NFL Division 1?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Derry top of Division 1 on score difference this evening after a good win over Kildare.

Thats Derry and Cork definitely in the League Semi final. With 2 teams from the Dublin, Mayo and Tyrone trio likely to join them.
Although it is worth noting that if Kerry win next week, and Tyrone/Dublin draw and Mayo lose to Derry, then Kerry will make the SF with better scoring difference.

Westmeath and Kildare drop to Division 2.

Sorry I just kopped the league table is on head to head results and not score difference. So Cork remain top of the table

Really good game in Cork, played in the right spirit. It was tough with some hard hits but not at all dirty and some brilliant scores. Kyle Coney was superb and it was a game maybe Tyrone will feel they left behind. However once again Tyrone are prone to giving some shocking goals away; they are very prone and wide open to teams running at their back line and their lack of pace there is quite obvious and will probably cost them this year. Cork can be brilliant attacking at speed and very good to watch but for long periods they are also very ordinary and plodding too at times.

I watched today's game and Coney was immense. He gave an exhibition in kicking points. McCurry is a real live wire too. A real nightmare for a corner back always on the move, leaving loads of space in and around the full-forward line for the likes of Coney. I'm surprised Ronan O'Neill isn't a starter for Tyrone. There are 3 good forwards there though. Slightly disappointed by Conor McAliskey.

No other player has made such a sensational return from a serious injury as Colm O'Neill. Goulding's place in that starting forward line is hanging by a thread. By the way Cork's chances are being done no good by Cadogan, Walsh and Cahalane trying to play two sports. All three are better footballers and anyway Cork have a better football team. Would someone speak sense to these guys? Cork are bit light in defence, that would be my worry for them. There probably short another good defender or two.

A case of job done in retaining division 1 status.

I agree with you job done with a game to spare, considering it's the second year in a row that we had to play 4 away games. I'm in limerick now eating a bite on my way home from mulllingar and I'm happy enough with our campaign .

You really have to admire this Dublin squad's fight and mentality; they don't know when they are beaten and play right to the final whistle. How they got a point against Mayo defies belief but it says a lot about them that they did with 14 men.

Cheers Ulsterman.

A lot of posters questioned would our hunger, fight and desire still be here this year, well I think we showed last night we definitely still want to win more this year.
Great to see. Augers well for the Summer.

Not only that, they are doing it with a lot of fringe players in the team which is indicative of their strength in depth, although Tyrone will beat them next week:o)

Still think Dublin will win it, should be a good game up in Omagh next week. Dublin seemed to be struggling badly in midfield when Mayo Sussex out their short ball kick outs from cluxton. How Mayo didn't close out the game is beyond me , but Dublin showed some serious grit in the last ten. Cork have oneill back in form as do Tyrone with Coney and mccurry.. Derry ticking away nicely, hopefully we get another couple of games before Donegal.

I think derry will win and I hope they do if we don't. Its looking unlikely now with Tyrone up next without Cluxton but sure we will give it a rattle!

Based on their superb point taking ability against Cork I can see Tyrone getting a result against Dublin in Omagh, Derry are playing great stuff too and I can see Mayo having a hard time beating them, Cork are building well very encouraging signs there and the Dubs are still knocking about though I wouldn't think they will lose any sleep in they don't win the league, safety in division 1 was all they wanted. I'll stick my neck out and say Derry for the league.

Cork have the forwards to win Sam but our defence and mid-field at this moment in time is just not good enough. I fancy us to get to the league final but cant see us beating the likes of Dublin, Mayo, Kerry when it comes to the championship. Dublin showed great character to come back against Mayo but with Cluxton missing against Tyrone i think they will be beaten. Derry are the form team so maybe a league title is not beyond them. After going to the Cork/Derry game though i am not overly convinced that Derry will challenge the big teams later in the summer. Its a really hard league to call because all teams are capable of beating each other at this time of year.

Tyrone have a great chance now to knock out the favorites in omagh next Sunday and if Dublin are out, then any 1 of the 4 teams Tyrone cork Derry or mayo would fancy there chances.
