Glad I didnt post at half time . However what I intended saying has as much value as any comment made afterwards .
Terrible performance , huge credit to Cork . Football is a game were you win your individual battles and collectively it should be enough , in the first half players were getting a roasting all over the park , aside from those battles being lost there was no eagerness to help each other out , one of the main facets to our play is the support running off your shoulder , you know you are in trouble when you see a dublin player burst forward facing a sea of red and have to double back as hes on his own ,this happened and it was obvious subsitutions would be neeeded and an injection of pace needed ,
Que the second half , players that were anonymous suddenly came to the fore , now we had movement and urgency .
Who takes the praise for this transformation , well JG would have taken serious flack had turn arround not occured , so in part him , but three players I felt left an indelible mark on HQ yesterday EOG Cork couldnt handle him simple as , D Byrne raw passion and determination , and B Brogan looked like he hadnt been away those who had been crying for weeks for him to play see what a bit of freshness does, he looks primed for the summer ahead .Ive picked these guys as the impact they had was so tangible and they didnt start .
Couple of other things the penalty , Id be disgusted if ref had of given that against us , as soft a penalty ever given , but over the years we have been denied some pretty clear cut ones , I felt at that stage we we were going to win anyway , we were coming in waves and Cork were like rabbits on the M50 .
Come the summer I hope we snap out of our sporadic performances as one day we could come a cropper and find weve gone to the good luck well once to offten ,
Delighted to have Derry also different test and honestly didnt think another game v Mayo would have served as well as a game v Derry

The proverbial game of two halves.

The first half was as bad as i have seen Dublin play since the Kerry game in 09. It was a disgrace.

Lazy, sluggish, slow, ponderous from a team that seemed to lack a bit of hunger and fire in their bellies in the first half and thats putting it nice.

We where absolutely roasted all over the field, Defensively we where all at sea, The Cork lads wanted it more and had so much time to get their head up and pick out their man. At one stage towards the end of the first half Cork had 4 men unmarked under the Hogan Stand. It just seemed as though there was no interest.

Midfield where non existant, Forwards hitting shots from all sorts of ridiculous angles and distances - Noone seemed to grab the game by the scruff of the neck in a blue jersey until O'Gara came on.

Second half and the introduction of Davey Byrne was huge, He was majestic.

Whatever Gavin said, worked an absolute treat. We where first to everything, We put bodies on the line and wanted it that little bit more than Cork who, in fairness to them where shocked and knackered. They thought they had done enough and didnt count on a Dublin come back.

Yet again we have shown the necessary stomach and the bottle to fight till the very end, And that is an aspect of our team now that cant be over-looked. We never know when we are beaten. We werent playing a Leitrim or a Antrim (no disrespect to both) yesterday either, We where playing a decent Cork side.

I know its a great victory and everyone will be delighted, But im a bit worried, We shouldnt forget that first half performance, The second half covered over alot of evidential cracks. I hope Jim Gavin analysis the b******s out of that first half and makes sure that doesnt happen again. Cause we cant go 7 8 9 points down in every game, There are only so many times a team can fight back from that before their luck runs out.

There has been a lot of comment on the first half and rightly so, but as I said before this was not an 8pt game at half time for a couple of reasons the very soft goal cork scored and some very bad wides on Dublin part from free's and open play.

I feel people are too focused on Dublin full back line, they were in an impossible position in that first half, Dublins work rate was non-exsistent 0ut the field there was absolutely no pressure put on the kicker or the Cork runners coming through.

The one man who carried the fight to cork was Philly he was my man of the match he never stopped going even when thing were not going well.

There was one moment yesterday that summed up the Difference in Dublins attitude yesterday. A Brogan picked up the loose ball around the half way line and ran about 60yards with it, he had 2 runners on each side of him philly and cooper the 2 full backs bursting a gut to support the ball carrier alan of loaded to cooper who took a great score.

Dublin didn't show that urgency in the first half nobody making the hard yards to support the ball carrier.

Cooper and Philly have been 2 of Dublins best players of the league to date always giving it 100%
