Mulligan returning is a massive boost both ability wise and in leadership. But we also have done quite well in both minor and U21 in the last few years. We now have players who have played top level sigerson football such as Moran, Wrynn, Kennedy, Plunkett who are all physical ball winners which we didnt have before. Wrynn and Moran have to be given a chance as our midfield pairing. Couple that with Plunkett and Mulligan in the half forward line and we are in slowly building a decent team. A few players need to step up this year, Conlan, McWeeney Quinn, Gilheany and Murphy to name a few if they are gonna really make it at Inter-county level. I still feel like Aughawillans other midfielder should be on the panel at the very least with give another physical option around the middle third. We are at 9/1 to Qualify which is a massive price i feel. Still have my doubts about the management team and the style its uses but the County Board still havent got Annaduff in order its clear not just on the playing front we are lagging behind other counties. Most talked about leitrim minor teams for years and how did they do? Hudhastings (Leitrim) - Posts: 87 - 01/12/2015 15:41:35 1810872 Link 0 |
Won a minor league? When before them for Minor teams for years were struggling to win a game all year let alone a league? How would you consider success it's gonna take consecutive years of good coaching at underage to see a real improvement, atleast that seems to be occurring now. why has there been so few players called up to training, surely there should be 50 or 60 players called up to see who is worthy of the place. doubt shane ward knows his best players at all Fr.spodo_gamodo (Leitrim) - Posts: 184 - 01/12/2015 19:02:52 1810917 Link 0 |
i think i'd try Wrynn and Moran at midfield. moran is strong but also mobile enough although he badly needs to learn when to release the ball. the return of mulligan is a great boost. we badly need scoring forwards and he is one for sure. paddy maguire coming back is great too and with young woods and murphy having another year under their belts will surely stand to them and leitrim. my biggest worry is fitness. the club scene fitness isn't great and this knocks on to the coubty panel. we need to seriously up training levels/methods at both club and county. No reason the team can not build from last year, good crew of young lads coming. BOGMAN93 (Leitrim) - Posts: 1 - 02/12/2015 20:16:57 1811148 Link 0 |
Wonder where mulligan will be playing next year, great to see him back in the county however looks unlikely Fr.spodo_gamodo (Leitrim) - Posts: 184 - 05/12/2015 10:12:55 1811523 Link 0 |

Not much standard of refereeing if the last post is anything to go by, plus Fenagh/Gortletteragh amalgamation are going to do very well at those awards. bananapublican (Leitrim) - Posts: 869 - 08/12/2015 18:40:48 1812141 Link 0 |
Don't think anyone would take those awards away from Michael or fabian. Two brilliant servants to clubs Fr.spodo_gamodo (Leitrim) - Posts: 184 - 08/12/2015 20:03:58 1812162 Link 0 |
I was reading in the observer that the training centre in Annaduff is opening the first week in January, i passed it this morning and there isn't a hope it will be ready it looks like a abandoned ghost estate right now dont know what they have planned in the next few weeks to get it ready , they better be miracle workers! !! green.and.gold (Leitrim) - Posts: 400 - 11/12/2015 10:52:14 1812612 Link 0 |
I was thinking the same about the centre of excellence, looks in no shape to be opening anytime soon. It looks like it hasn't been touched in a few years with all the grass growing around it. Grey_Owl (Leitrim) - Posts: 36 - 12/12/2015 10:37:14 1812721 Link 0 |
it would appear that the present county board inherited alot of problems from the previous one, I pass the centre of excellence regularly and it is looks like a nod from Leitrim GAA to the ghost estates from the celtic tiger era!!!...hopefully it will be available for our county teams to prepare like other counties in 2016, not holding my breath though....... totalrecall (Leitrim) - Posts: 529 - 19/01/2016 09:14:47 1817532 Link 0 |
