Connacht Under 17 Championship
So Leitrim get their Connacht U17 champioship under way tonight in Castlebar against Mayo. A round robin competion this year where each of the Connacht counties play each other once. We have Mayo and Sligo away and Roscomon and Galway at home over the course of this new championship. Have we a good group of U17's this year? Has a lot of effort been put in? Can we expect a good champioship?
Good luck to all involved tonight.

I am surprised shocked and very annoyed to hear that Connacht Council wouldn't put back this game for a week.Dragging these youngsters to Castlebar to play an important game at 8pm after a day in school is grossly unfair.
Shame too on Mayo for ,according to the Leitrim Observer, firstly refusing to change the game from its original timing next Saturday.
A lot of work is going in to improving football in Leitrim. The pool is small. The treatment of this group is shameful .
It is easy to play lip service to the weaker counties-it is another thing.
Anyway I wish the team and its dedicated management team well and I hope they do themselves proud.

Another massive beating in the U17 championship this evening. Add that to the massive beatings our U20's and seniors have taken this year (and indeed in the previous years). It's getting out of control in a big way and very hard to take. Unless Leitrim wake up- and wake up very soon- then we will be doing nothing more than wasting our time fielding teams at all. Everything from club underage to adult clubs to county board and inter county teams needs to start doing what other counties are doing. Everybody from the junior club player to the starters on the senior teams need to do everything they can to be the best they can be. We are going through the motions in every aspect of football and it shows in a big way
