Really enjoyed watching today..a shame for the boys as I think they left it behind them..had some very bad wides in the game and tipp didn't..credit to tipp for 2 brilliant scores, first to level in normal time and then the winner in extra time..might have been a question of a foot block by tipp keeper..ref might have given another 30 seconds but again wouldn't be sure..if this team can be kept together no reason they won't keep competing ..well done and I'm not being patronizing. A torrid first 20 mins for Limerick in the second half but in fairness to them they rallied and were a point ahead in injury time of normal time, should have been two but for a terrible miss straight in front of goal. They are certainly on the way back and will get better.I enjoyed watching them, especially in the first half when they played some great football and their tackling was superb. Good opportunity to get to a Munster final gone, to lose a 7 point lead after half time is unforgivable at county level. I can't understand why Michael Donavan was left on bench until extra-time a fantastic footballer who can defend and get up the field and kick points. Also is Josh Ryan injured he would have made a big difference if he was available especially in midfield to help out Tommy Childs who had most of the responsibility to win ball from kick outs. Tipperary goal was a bad goal to give away our backs were asleep with poor reactions with the ball coming off the post. Brian Fox made a hugh difference for Tipperary coming on linking up their play and conor Sweeney point to level the game was class. Tipperary will give Cork a good game too. I can't help but feel Limerick left another Munster final chance slip through their fingers, Limerick should have closed out the game against Tipperary in the semi-final. I'm not begrudging Tipperary for 1 second I was delighted for them but Limerick would have being capable of beating Cork too. It's time we got the finger out with Gaelic football in Limerick and start realising the potential in the game in Limerick. DUALSUPPORT (Limerick) - Posts: 791 - 25/11/2020 21:59:34 2315456 Link 1 |
When you miss a free from 14 yards in front of goal - enough said.

Very unfair to single out 1 moment and player for the loss 99/100 Seamus O'Carroll would have slotted that mark over the bar, fair enough it was a bad miss but you win as a team and lose as a team, I could pick out other individual mistakes that lead to Tipperary scores or other guys who missed chances for Limerick and highlight issues with team selection with management. The simple truth is Limerick went in 7 points up at half time and let Tipperary back into the game and when Limerick went ahead again in normal time they should have closed out the game out.

Yes, great to see Iain getting recognised for his great performances throughout the season. First Limerick nomination since John Galvin, I think. This is also a great boost for Billy Lee and the whole squad.

Probably the biggest injustice since the All-Stars began in the early 1970's was the great John Galvin not getting a single award. THE outstanding midfielder for nearly a decade. Wonder what he must have thought when he saw other players, whom he virtually put in his pocket, getting awards ahead of him. But Galvin was a team player first and foremost and personal accolades would be well down his priority list. When you look at some individuals that have got awards, and some multiple awards since, it begs serious questions about those involved in picking the All-Star team. This year we saw a player failing to score in his SIXTH final yet he has 3 All-Stars. Mind-boggling..!! But sure he has a big twitter following and that's what really matters to many sports journalists. Well done to Corbett on being nominated, well deserved. What a pity he was well off his best in the Tipp game. We could have won that one. Better times ahead. hamstring (Limerick) - Posts: 314 - 15/01/2021 12:19:32 2327539 Link 0 |

Totally agree with you on John Galvin, what a colossus for Limerick football, one of the greatest midfield performers of his time, took on and beat all comers,a great injustice from those that should know better but the ALL Stars selection process is hugely flawed. I'm looking fwd to seeing and supporting this Limerick football team post Covid, in addition to the hurlers of course. ONdeDITCH (Limerick) - Posts: 640 - 25/01/2021 23:08:38 2328955 Link 0 |
Significantly, in 2010, the players who selected a separate team at the time, included John. It was the only deviation from the All Star team.

His displays against Kerry and Cork in 2010 were unreal. Walsh and Maher couldnt handle him. upthetreatyboys (Limerick) - Posts: 95 - 27/01/2021 12:10:37 2329131 Link 0 |
