What's the latest on these lads ?

Colm McFadden has been an unused sub for the past 2 games, he warmed up in both so I don't think he is injured. It does beggar belief that he is not being used. Neil has been injured since March so not sure if he can play any time soon.

I already posted on the other thread about Neil.

It's not likely he will play much this year at all.

To be honest on the evidence of the last few years I think McFadden is finished, great player in his day without doubt and we would not have won Sam in 2012 without him. I really think we should be concentrating on trying to give some game time to younger lads like C Thompson, Eoin Ban and S McBrearty..

I still feel McFadden has something to offer this team and maybe will have something to to say further down the line if we get to Croke Park, as will Stephen McBrearty. I agree that we should be utilising our bench to better effect but still think McFadden has a big game in him. This is the last swansong for 5 or 6 of this Donegal squad and they will want to go out on a high.

I think the one team who C McFadden always played well against was Tyrone. Would not at all be suprised to see him enter the fray at some stage But down the line we should be giving the likes of S mcB or C T some game time.
Big Neil is a huge loss and I always thought that when himself and MM were playing well so were Donegal

I think it would be better to have Colm on for the last 10 minutes rather than a tired player who has nothing left in the tank. Rory seems to make very few substitutions whereas all the top teams empty the bench. I am baffled with the Leo McLoone situation, I would have him on from the start.

Hard to say about Colm & Leo.

We have no idea how they are going in training & it's hard to see who you would take off. Rory has tended to use ball carriers like Toye & Mark McHugh as his first choice subs up to now but I'd say we will see the others before the summer is out.

With regards the younger lads I am not too concerned about them. The team is playing well & the experienced subs are above them in the pecking order. They are still raw at this level and another league campaign will do them the world of good after which they will be ready to go when some of the senior players call it a day.

I think something similar happened last year with Hugh McFadden, he started every league game but got dropped for the championship. He was warming up on Saturday so I don't think he is injured.

McFadden would never last on the pitch in tight games like those two monaghan games, his pulling and dragging game would have seen him black carded in about 5 minutes. Better keeping him for challenge matches and league games where he might start to learn to tackle properly! There no doubt the R.Gallagher knows what he's doing and McLoone will feature in the Ulster final, keeping his trump cards players injury free for Ulster final!

Thats extremely harsh on Mcfadden who has given great service and was the best foward in ireland in 2011 and 2012..

he is referring to Hugh McFaddan whose played as Defensive Midfielder/Sweeper during the league

Still very harsh. He's someone who does a lot of the grunt work when he's on. He's very good at making himself available and laying off to some of the more attacking players.

Would be great to see him back alright but even if he was fit he would be really lacking match sharpness. Time to give Hugh McFadden the responsibility I feel.
