Ger Egan was on the sideline with the panel last week. He's still getting back to full fitness from his injury at the minute so hasn't played any games yet.

Relax Mick GTI wasn't picking on Glennon he was asking if the rumour was true? What part of the question looked to you like he was picking on him?? As for Ger Egan, its January there are a lot more besides Ger to come back and its been well talked about that he was carrying an injury for some time.

One revealing moment today showing how robotic our lads have become. ...in the first minutes when the Offaly goalie lost the ball at midfield and we spent 2 minutes taking the free ...in a similar situation years ago Mikey Sheehy won an all-Ireland. Ask Paddy Cullen.

Poor fair today but then its never pretty between the 2 sides. Should be an interesting final, will it be home or away?

It's in Portlaoise which is not ideal!

A decent start to the year under new management. A win is a win and the lads ground it out, regardless of the poor nature of the game. I do like the attitude of Kelly and his desire to get into the winning frame of mind early in the season.
Let's hope they put the foot down on the Royals next week.

win is a win well done to all. I taught we would know where we were after the Offaly game unfortunately the standard was so poor I'm clueless, luckily we have a lot more player to return than Offaly. Meath will not like to lose a final to westmeath hopefully we can get over the line. Silverware in Leinster is hard to come by...

Does anyone know if Holloway is involved this year or is he still injured? I didn't see him with the subs today along side Ger Egan and a few of others who were there but not togged out. I'm impressed by a lot of the younger lads who are stepping up this year which has created a bit of competition with plenty of lads to come back still. I thought Duncan and Sayeh did very well today along with John Egan. Loughlin again is showing consistent form since he re-joined the panel this year and he will be a cert to start against Derry now. Ger Egan will be a massive boost to midfield once he returns. On another note its absolutely crazy that the final is in Portlaoise.

Agreed! A better crowd would surely travel to Mullingar or Navan for this. Poor foresight by Leinster council

O'Byrne Cup Final is fixed for this Sunday 4pm in Portlaoise.
Curtain raiser at 2pm is All Ire IFC An Ghaeltacht (Kerry) v Moy (Tyrone) which will see the Kavanaghs take on the O'sé clan. Think both are live on TG4.

I think stick with the team that beat Offaly and make changes in second half. Kieran Martin went off with a knee injury does anyone know will he be fit for Sunday?

In fairness to Bord na Mona they would want something back for the sponsorship via the TV coverage. Portlaoise is a long trek before the end of January. On the other hand Cusack Park is hardly up to final standard.

It was good enough for 14,610 people in January 2004 when Westmeath played Meath on a frosty Sunday in January!

The other issue will be with the inclement weather we have had, what condition will the pitch be in Portlaoise after the first game??
