Clondalkin, I do believe that Dublin are the best there is out there and at the minute have the best player in the country in Dermo. But I would have had Kerry as 3rd fav last year and they went and won it. That's sport, these things happen. nothing is a forgone conclusion and that's why I wouldn't sit here now and say Dublin will win it.

Its Kerry's to lose because of the simple fact Sam is down in Kerry now.
They will be boosted by Walsh coming back from Oz & Cooper from injury. Plus the likes of young Murphy will only get better.

It's far from a forgone conclusion but I believe Dublin are marginally better than Kerry, who I think were underestimated last year.

Ah Kingdom boy i thought you Kerry boys were wintering well with Sam nicely tucked away under the blanket.Once ye win is all that matters ,how it happens shouldnt bother ye. Dont put too much pass on us Dublin lads we are just excited about watching some passing football from our county next year and sure if that wins us trophies brilliant and if not we will pick up the pieces and go again :)

Kerry won't retain Sam in 2015. Had Dublin got past Donegal, they would have beaten Kerry, and Sam would be in the Capital.
Here are my 4 tips for provincial titles in 2015.

Dublin, Kerry, Roscommon, Armagh.
Can't see Mayo winning Connacht, Galway maybe in 2016/2017. I don't see Donegal winning Ulster next year, without Jim McGuinness. Ulster is the most open province in the football championship.
Kerry will beat Cork to win Munster. Meath will be Dublin's biggest threat in Leinster.

That's my prediction list, others will have their own views no doubt. I see they don't do modesty in Kerry, reading some posts on this forum.

i suppose this kind of thread only encourages the usual mundane analysis...lads it's december 2014....none of us have a notion how teams are shaping up...in reality there are about 8 or 9 teams who at this stage of the year could be likely winners next year...all this talk about dublin kerry donegal as being sole contenders is a lot of nonsense to be honest...any one of those plus mayo, cork, tyrone, derry, monaghan and kildare are in the running with possibly galway, meath, and armagh being dark horses....thats about all any of us can say at this stage...

Dublins confidence will have been damaged by the defeat to donegal.
All year the Dublin attack had blitzed through defences and looked unstoppable, but they simply fell to pieces against that famous Donegal system, and the whole experience would have really hurt Dublins pride.
Dublin posters here are slagging kerry about playing defensive football, but Donegal in some ways humiliated the dubs in the semi, they didnt humiliate the kingdom, in fact they didnt even beat them.
I think that Jim Gavin has a bit of a puzzle now. The Dublin defence, which looked so solid under Gilroy, malfunctioned in an awful way last august. They looked lost and frightened against Mcbrearty and co, and Gavin will have to remedy this, but that will mean scaling back on the attacking play.
Dublin will of course breeze through Leinster, but bigger tests will come. This year the Kerry men proved that they can master any type of football, and with the gooch and Walsh to come back I make them slight favourites.
Dont rule out Donegal either.

I dont think Dublin were humiliated in the semis, they just ran out of ideas. All to play for again next year. If there was any team humiliated this year, it was Cork in the Munster final, and Cork in the hurling semis v Tipp. Could this mean they have a big point to prove in 2015?

Kerry, Dublin, the field. That is the football championship of 2015.

What has joncarter being a Galway man got to do with anything ? I could have said something to the longtidge from Offaly when he said Dublin would have beat Kerry in the final if they got there but I didn't. I think your a small bit of a snob clondalkin.

Dublin have a large and well funded GAA base, which ensures the level of coaching is top quality and thus a constant supply of good players. They will be the team to beat in 2015, because they easily can beat most sides in Ireland without changing their Gung ho tactics from the past two seasons. Whether or not they alter their tactics in 2015 will depend on whether they meet Donegal again, as in previous encounters the likes of Kerry, Mayo, Cork had all failed stop Dublin's game.

Kerry came in under the radar in 2014, and I previously stated that won't happen in 2015. Will the returning Colm Cooper and Tommy Walsh bolster them into a stronger outfit? Yes it probably will, but being considered a serious threat normally means teams won't drop their guard against you. For a few seasons the big full forward became redundant, as teams like Tyrone learned how to deal with that. Teams will no doubt review that protocal again for next season, and I suspect the big man up front will be less effective again in 2015.

Donegal and Mayo are the other two major teams of this current era, with Dublin and Kerry they have made double All Ireland final appearances in the last 4 years. And I expect this to continue, as both these sides have so much quality all over the pitch and vast experience. Too many leaders and winners in both sides, for a new manager to disrupt and set the teams back. They will both be at the top table next summer.

Tyrone were unlucky in 2014, and I have heard positive things coming from Tyrone fans Im friendly with recently. I think they are finally close to unleashing their true potential, and could be a serious side in the race for Sam in 2015.

Outside of that, only Cork could realistically get a decent run together and win an All Ireland, but I can't see in 2015.

Do you not think Derry or Monaghan will do any good in 2015?

I know that question wasn't for me but what do you mean by 'any good'? Ulster or AI or what?

Derry really impressed me in the league last year, I know they went out of the championship in a soft way but they had a lot of injuries in fairness , I could actually see them knocking out one of this years top 4 teams , Monaghan are building away nicely as well and if a team got a bit of luck like we did this year anything is possible. I suppose this thread is a little early as well coz we don't know how teams will go in the league either. How do you see dublins league going in 2015?

I have mentioned Armagh before and think they could be the surprise team of 2015. They are still probably short a few players and some experience but would be my bet for Ulster. A bit more cuteness this year and they could have reached the semi final. Cross being out of club championship might very well mean a more serious challenge from Armagh than for a good few years.

Why do all teams play defensive now? Is it the worry of meeting Dublin or Mayo (the only 2 attacking teams out there) down the road that they start out with these negative tactics? Like lets say monaghan v Cavan two evenly matched teams meet next summer why can't they just play attacking football instead of this negative stuff that's ruining our game? I watched the Leinster Club final yesterday and Vincents are only team to kick the ball all other teams just hand pass the thing especially negative defensive teams, I know it's easier to keep possession by hand pass but as a spectacle it's boring, I find the attitude of managers now is "who cares about the spectacle it's all about winning" which IMO is wrong.

K'boy1/Realdub: Derry gave us a fair trimming last year in Killarney - beat us well physically, your man Lynch on the Forty was outstanding that day but I suppose they dry sod might not have suited them.
