Horsebox,KingdomBoy1,

Derry flattered to deceive in my opinion and I don't think Monaghan could survive without McManus. Don't get me wrong, they're decent sides but not good enough to win the AI.

Lads, you are looking at resources first and foremost if you are going to win the all ireland.

Dublin, Kerry, Mayo and Donegal have them. 3 have populations of around 150000 plus. The likes of monaghan dont. This is a lot to do with squad size.
Money is a huge part of the deal now in order to train properly. Our own county has upped it big time in this area. Mayo spend big time. Kerry announced they spent over a million preparing for 2014. Dublin have the funds.
You can go through a list that includes 'soft sides of draws, dual counties, gaa football only etc but the reality is that football is now heavily reliant on the first 2 factors without which, I am not sure it is possible to win an all ireland any more.

Dublin, Kerry, Mayo, Donegal, the field in my opinion.

Sorry KingdomBoy1, you asked about Dublin's league.
Because so many guys are fighting to get on the first 15 this will make us competitive in the league as usual, and if that gets us to the knock-out stages we'll probably try go and win it, but I think Gavin has as much interest in League titles as I have. Wouldn't bother me if we never won it again, once we're ticking over nicely heading into summer :)

They aren't really valid points in my book. Sure Cork, Galway, Tipp, Meath and Kildare all have bigger populations than Kerry and Mayo yet they seem to be at the top most years. Like yes it benifits Dublin having a big population but no one else really. If you were to judge Kilkenny on population you'd think they have no all irelands. As for sponsorship Kerry have had Kerry group for the last 20 years so loyality comes into it and the same with Elvery's.

I agree with you Derry were very good against us in Killarney and you might be right about the hard ground not suiting them, jays they were big lumpers of men.
Realdub
I still think if Derry or Monaghan got a little luck they could take out one of our teams in a quarter or semi , and as for the league I'd say we'd be in the same boat as ye'r selfs use it to blood a few young lads and hopefully get to a semi or a final just to shorten the time between league and championship, I think we had 11 week between our last game in the league and our first against Clare in Munster, and that's 2 long without a competitive game IMO.

Population alone wasnt my argument, I reckon you need the money too. yes kilkenny have a small population, but they are so well organized it is to their enormous credit. You need money as well as everything else to keep things ticking over, ask anyone in charge of a team.

I would like to see Dublin winning the League. No point in being in it if were not serious about it.Cody has the right attitude.Whether Walsh Cup,League or Championship,he wants to win it all.It is great preperation for the championship and winning is a habit.

Kerry with Tommy Walsh and Gooch back? Theirs to lose. Dublin runners up. Team to watch: Armagh.

Amazing how many people are tipping a division 3 team as all ire contenders.
Meath prospects are not good. Hopefully with a fit cillian osullivan and Wallace , Gillespie both back we may surprise a few. But way too early to say. First things first. Promotion to div 1 is a must.

Kingdomboy, longford are perfectly entitled to aim big. They and almost all the other counties go out at the beginning of the spring to build for as late in the year as they can. Longford will definitely improve by doing this, and it is going to take money. One thing they have in their favour is the county is small and centralized, so it will be easy to administrate a team effort. are they going to challenge for honours in 2020? imo they have slim prospects, but they are entitled to try as much as the big counties. Gud luck to them. BTW there will be money spent on this project, no doubt whatsoever.

Think it has the makings of an interesting championship! I would expect kerry to continue their run on killarney against cork and dont think anyone is positioned to challenge dublin as of yet! Connaught could be interesting with the exit of james horan, galway and roscommon have been progressing as well but would still expect mayo to progress! Will be interesting as well to see what impact cian o connors brother can make, he has looked very impressive at club level! Ulster is the most open, with jimmy gone it will be interesting to see what kind of tactics donegal implement! I fancy a tyrpne monaghan ulster final with tyrone coming out the victors!

As for the all ireland series I cant see past kerry! While you can double mark JOD this tactic becomes less effective when kerry have gooch, walsh and donaghy as options up front as well! I reckon it will be a kerry diblin final and kerry to reclaim Sam! All depends on injuries of course and a ball hasnt been kicked yet so we will have to wait and see!

No one will touch Dublin and Kerry next year. I also think they should re-establish an All Ireland B competition for Division 3/4 teams as many fellas are training for one or two matches and then that's it. The football gap is now as wide as the hurling.

Without a doubt ulsterman. The hammerings being dished out on a yearly basis to teams, who are blatantly out of their depth, has to be addressed. But ive proposed a few alterations to the current format myself ie. 2 tier championship, amalgamation of some of the weaker counties etc ,but theres not much hope of any change im afraid.

The only team that COULD stop Kerry or Dublin next year is Mayo.Yes they have failed to get over the line, but they are next in line imo.Alot would depend on Kerry and Dublin meeting in the semi's or something.
