Intermediate Football Championship 2017

The Menlough objection is a total farce.
That game wasn't even a quarter final - it was the round before the quarters.
So they would have to play Headford in a quarter final if re-instated (as K-C played Headford after Menlough).
They couldn't just parachute them into a semi against Claregalway.
Farcical

Replying To diggerhitachi:  "This rumoured Menlough objection surely can't really be happening. 72 Hours is the limit for appealing or lodging appeals after the game. If this is in fact true, and now both teams are out of the championship, then what do Menlough hope to achieve? Sanctions against a particular individual if it's that sort of objection? Or sanctions against the team for next year if it is some sort of club related issue and not player specific? Either way the county board even beginning to entertain this nonsense is opening a can of worms they will never shut. Menlough should be totally and utterly ashamed of themselves if these fairly thin rumours turn out to be true. If they had grounds to lodge an appeal at the time and didn't, and all of a sudden decided now was a good time to do this, then it is they who should be punished for being so abhorrently stupid and downright low to even concoct something like this. I'm still calling BS on this whole thing."
Its a joke if true but aren't Menlough merely following the lead of Portumna who objected late and still by some miracle were given a hearing and managed to get their objection past numerous hurdles before finally Turloughmore got thrown out.........you couldnt make it up

Menlough appealing their Quarter Final loss this long after the game is an utter farce.

At this rate all games after the QF will have to be replayed.

Shame. Shame on Menlough.

Portumna have got away with it and now Menlough have followed suit. A lastminute.com job appealing their Q-Final. Gaway Bay said the championship has now been postponed for the forseeable future now as a result.

Chickens coming home to roost for the GAA authorities, the incompetence of the county board in dealing with Portumna's late objection and the success of same has only encouraged other clubs to do likewise, I've said many times that trying to overturn results on minor technicalities or infringements of the rules, is the height of bad sportsmanship and goes against everything the games are about. This emerging culture is very destructive forever sours relations between both clubs. It sends out completely the wrong message to young players who we continuously encourage to play hard, accept the referee's decision and shake your opponents hand after the game.

The intermediate championship is changed, changed utterly.

A terrible beauty is born.

If there is a 3 day time limit for an appeal, then the county board needs to announce immediately that the Menlough appeal is invalid and has been thrown out - end of story. As for Williamstown, the article that I just read about their re-instatement is clear as mud. It just says that they have been cleared to play in the final but there is no explanation whatsoever for the basis of the decision. Why is it always so difficult for the GAA to 1. establish the relevant facts of a case 2. interpret the rules and 3. make a clear and transparent decision based on the rules? Almost every appeal in the GAA turns into a circus that drags on forever with both sides spouting reams of completely irrelevant nonsense and ends with a decision shrouded in mystery.

There seems to be a lot of confusion over what is happening with the intermediate final,is there any truth in the news that Aran Islands have appealed,I spoke to someone this evening who would know a thing or two about such appeals and was informed that as yet no such appeal was made! Also there is nothing to the Menlough story. Can anyone shed some light on the situation?

Both Aran & Menlough have lodged appeals. How would you know the Galway county board when you're from Donegal. Nonsense once again.

Just because I'm from a different county does not mean I have no knowledge of other county's. I spent a considerable number of years working and living in Galway,I also played football there. At the time of posting yesterday there was no "official"appeal obviously there is now. This is in regards to the Aran/Williamstown match!

Millertime u would think that portumna was the first team ever to object to a player in the gaa history the way u go on. U also seem to think that both team were late in there objects because it was after 72 hours again u are wrong about this. Pls do yourself a favour look up the rule book before putting up anymore posts

If clubs followed the rules in the first place we wouldnt need to be talking about appeals or objections.
