Clueless as usual.

Yes Williamstown are in the final but Aran have 3 days to appeal this decision to the Connacht Council. I will be shocked if Aran do not do this. gaaman11 (Galway) - Posts: 107 - 26/10/2017 15:23:00 2058224 Link 0 |
No clue. Completely different situations.

The county board actually sided with Turlough twice according to the statement they put out. It was the Connacht Council who found against Turlough, hence why it was them appealing to the DRA rather than Portumna. There's also a difference with the football situation in that Turlough played a player who, at the time, had transferred and was technically the member of another club. If I've got my facts right about the Williamstown case, the player in question never actually transferred from Williamstown. The issue is probably that he played in America without clearance, hence he should probably have been suspended when he played in the semi-final replay. Not sure if that's all 100%, but it's the gist of the situation, I think? Does anyone know, if Aran appeal to the Connacht Council and lose, can they keeping going to Croke Park? Can they appeal an appeal so to speak? GalwayFancyDans (Galway) - Posts: 75 - 26/10/2017 16:03:36 2058241 Link 0 |
My opinions are based on results. Williamstown fell over the line against Glenamaddy (Div 4), Oranmore (Div 4) and Aran Islands (Div 3). Claregalway have beaten Menlough (Div 1), Kilkerrin Clonberne (Div 2 and last years Intermediate FInalists) and Spiddal (Div 3). Claregalway are second in div 3. WIlliamstown are 2nd in div 4. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Claregalway should win this one at a canter. Pookie_Monster (Galway) - Posts: 32 - 26/10/2017 16:16:58 2058249 Link 0 |
Total farce at this stage. MapleSyrup (Galway) - Posts: 165 - 26/10/2017 16:17:54 2058251 Link 0 |
Here's a question, will Menlough also get the same level of criticism as the islanders received (should the appeal rumour be true). Not a fan of the appeals myself, but accept that the rules are there and that the majority of teams would appeal if faced with a similar situation. Will Menlough's appeal be labeled as "dishonourable" too? Not likely.... Tribesman83 (Galway) - Posts: 8 - 26/10/2017 17:22:32 2058281 Link 0 |
Is there not a timeline for getting appeals in?

Three days but Portumna somehow got around it.

Menlough are a good team so they deserve to appeal imo.

That is very odd logic.

By entertaining the Portumna objection , the county board opened a can of worms, they are now reaping what they sow.....

Galway Bay FM have just said something in their 9pm headline about Menlough appealing as well omg it will be 2020 when this final is played :( AustinGleeson6 (Galway) - Posts: 223 - 26/10/2017 21:03:52 2058371 Link 0 |
No harm. That's when Galway is European Capital of Culture & it could be a fine time to showcase our incredible national game in front of tourists. In terms of my logic Marooned - it's based on how Menlough are a division one team & the Islanders are division 5. I think it's fair enough if Menlough get back in. Would that mean another semi-final needs to be played between Claregalway & Menlough? The Willies will be waiting in the final anyway that's for sure. Surely not the case. Willies defintely waiting in the finale AustinGleeson6 (Galway) - Posts: 223 - 26/10/2017 21:44:14 2058396 Link 0 |
I hope you're half-shteamed when posting most of your comments. It might explain some of the ráiméis you're typing. Menlough deserve an appeal because they're higher up in the league? This after you tore into Aran as being dishonourable for appealing. Time to pack in the comments a mhac. Unless you're here for the entertainment, in which case you need to up your game. Look scan I'm only trying to look out for the good of intermediate. I'm fearful this'll turn out like the Clonbur & Béal Atha Slua fiasco from a couple of years ago. The bottom line for me is that the Willies deserve their place in the final - I think we all have agreed on that. Claregalway, Menlough & Aran can battle it out for the other spot. We're coming into November now & this should have been sorted months ago. Surely you can agree with me on that. My apologies for aggrieving you.

This rumoured Menlough objection surely can't really be happening. 72 Hours is the limit for appealing or lodging appeals after the game. If this is in fact true, and now both teams are out of the championship, then what do Menlough hope to achieve? Sanctions against a particular individual if it's that sort of objection? Or sanctions against the team for next year if it is some sort of club related issue and not player specific? Either way the county board even beginning to entertain this nonsense is opening a can of worms they will never shut. Menlough should be totally and utterly ashamed of themselves if these fairly thin rumours turn out to be true. If they had grounds to lodge an appeal at the time and didn't, and all of a sudden decided now was a good time to do this, then it is they who should be punished for being so abhorrently stupid and downright low to even concoct something like this. I'm still calling BS on this whole thing. diggerhitachi (Galway) - Posts: 19 - 26/10/2017 22:18:01 2058411 Link 0 |
