Loughmacrory V Galbally -Div 2 Relegation Play-Off

(Oldest Posts First)

Massive game for these 2 sides, the loser going straight down and the winner playing the promotion play off winner from division 3. Hard to believe that one of these 2 sides or maybe both will be in div 3 next year. I see Loughmacrory beat them 3 weeks ago, this game is a different kettle of fish altogether. Im predicting a bruising encounter with home advantage keeping the Lough living to fight another day and thus condemning the Pearse's junior football. Predictions?

Think Gallbally will be too strong and will win both games needed to survive. Whatever the outcome these are two great clubs and i think they are both too good to play in Div 3.

Cant see there being much difference than 3 weeks ago, Had Galbally of won that game then they wouldnt be in these play offs. Lough won by 5 the last day in Galbally but this game will be alot tighter, Galbally are without Paul Rafferty and young Murphy. Totally agree that neither of these sides should be in div 3 but unfortunately the table says otherwise.

Loughmacrory are now down but they are def too good for Div 3. Can't see anything other than them doing the double next year without dropping a point in the league.

that's what they thought when they came down to div 2 and look how that went for them lost the first 3 games on bounce and out of the championship in the first round ! I can foresee the Lough struggling again as over confidence will be their downfall as they underestimated teams in div2 they will also underestimate the number of quality sides in div3.

I don't think under-estimating the amount of quailty teams in Division will be a problem at all

Cant see the Lough having much difficulty next year, Killeeshil strolled div 3 last year but got tanked nearly every game this year. Massive gulf in the 2 divisions.

@ Tyro 8

That probably explains Derrytresk's promotion and form this season in div 2?? Promoted from Div 3 won majority of their games and qualified for Div 1 playoffs! Mite be fair to say some people are oblivious??

Killeeshil aren't as bad as some people as people think they blooded a lot of young lads this year and maybe a year in Junior will help bring them on, Loughmacrory had a middling year and I agree they are too good for Junior, rumour has it a lot of lads are abroad. The biggest mistake you could make is to underestimate a lot of teams in Junior. I will conclude by saying I think Galbally will be too physically strong for whoever wins the Junior play-off although the game will give either Fintona or Brocagh an opportunity to gauge themselves to see whether they can make a tilt for Junior honours in 2013.

Derrytresk had a great year, which was no suprise given that they got to an All Ireland final. They didnt win the majority of their games though, they won 7 out of 15 which is under half, Loughmacrory won 6 and were relegated. This just shows how tight division 2 is. To be honest I think that Galbally will trounce either of those sides.

although losing saturdays game officially relegated loughmacrory - it was conceding that goal in july against stewartstown that they'll probably look back on more.

if we dont score with the last kick we end up on 12 points and lough finish on 14 points, and we would have been playing galbally in the playoffs instead - thats how tight div2 was in 2012.

as for derrytresk - they had momentum and superior fitness from their all ireland run. i think the hill will suffer badly from second season syndrome next year.

galbally are def safe - even without murphy and rafferty they would beat the pick of brocagh and fintona.

Agree with you there. Killeeshil aren't as bad as some people think. They are worse.
