Replying To republicofcloone:  "Na Fianna is a mile up the road! Whitehall and St Vincent's about two miles away or less even. What's your point? I would consider those in the vicinity of Croke Park, wouldn't you?"
No they are not in the vicinity of Croke Park. For all the money people say the gaa give to Dublin they have invested nothing locally. The area in which Croke Park is situated would certainly not be considered affluent by any stretch of the imagination yet they do very little to promote the game or try to get kids interested in playing

Did you do that ?
No I bet not."
I'm assuming it's closed too as my response to sligo Joe was not allowed. Probably better it was closed tbh.
I know you didn't post the comparison. I never accused you of doing so either.

Na Fianna, Whitehall , Vincents and Parnells are all fairly close. Even Plunketts is a short drive out the road. And Bridgets. And that's just senior clubs.

What do you want!? A new club set up with Croker as their home pitch!!??

A club about a mile away isn't in the vicinity?! Drumcondra where Croke Park is located isn't affluent? Have you heard of Griffith Avenue or Iona Road? You're not being reasonable at all with this argument. You'll see people from genuinely deprived areas of Dublin and of the rest of the country smiling at that statement.
Since when does the GAA boards have to form clubs for people? If people want to play the games they can form committees to set up a club, enter a ground share with a neighbouring club. If they can do it in loyalist East Belfast they can do it in Drumcondra...but they don't need to as there's probably too many clubs nearby anyway.

Replying To cavanman47:  "Nonsense

If I look out into my back garden, there isn't a GAA field.

But there's one 2 miles away.

Same for those areas you mentioned.

Oh, and I don't have a bus going by my front door to get me there either."
Even if you did you probably wouldn't want to pay the bus fare anyway!

The leitrim mans knowledge fo Dublin gaa clubs isn't up to much, Starlights gaa club santry. There a long time but I think the point is new developments in the area increased population have created a vacuum in this area and in a lot of recent housing developments accross the city.but this fact doesn't suit your narrative so I'm sure you'll going to stick with sarcasm.

Tonguey dear, get to stuffing that turkey. All this anti-Dub bile will give you indigestion and spoil your Christmas.

Sure didn't the gaa buy clonlife college last year cavanman47 and they intend developing a load of pitches there along with another massive hotel, this reminds me of that board game Monopoly but the only team allowed to pass Go and collect their money is dublin.

Well I'm sure google was your friend for that one. I hadn't heard of that club. So the Dublin poster is obviously wrong about Santry not being directly catered for also, as well as a myriad of clubs ten mins down the road. What area has a vacuum? Does every new housing estate in Dublin require central funding for a gaa club? That is never how it worked in the rest of the country as i've pointed out.
Quite amusing to see a Meath poster defending this madness, but shur we see where Meath are now these days. A shadow of a genuinely great county at football. And it is all this money being directly pumped into their neighbours that has partially caused this. But you carry on defending it.

That i suspect is exactly what the poster wants. Because you won't be able to find an empty field for a pitch for any new club on Fitzgibbon St or the North Circular. More entitlement.

The Dublin man asked the Leitrim man about the clubs in Dublin1 What are you rambling about here?? there has been developments in your own county also and doesn't seem to have done much for your football team as they are a joke.

Ahh Kingdomboy, Kerry have passed "Go" too KingdomBoy and picked up a few Community chest cards to boot.. Between the money ye get from your global backers and the US you'd be able to buy plenty of nice properties for yourselves. LOADSAMONEY IN KERRY!

I don't need a geography lesson thank you. If you walk to the other end of the Clonliffe Road you are into an area called Ballybough and over the hill from there is Summerhill. If you every get a chance to be in Croke Park again I suggest you take a little walk around these areas and then come back with your argument. I didn't say the GAA should form clubs for these people but I do think it's strange that there is no GAA club within the shadow of Croke Park.

Our teams played twice there last year. You see with one team hogging it all the time, others don't get a look in.
I know Ballybough and Summerhill very well. Where do you suggest they build a pitch in those areas? You will see more people in Liverpool and Man United jerseys around those areas than Dublin ones too. There is zero restriction on men and women in those areas you mention meeting up and saying they want to create a gaa club, zero. But I know what you are getting at, you want money to be thrown at them to do so. Whereas every other club in the country that is formed has to fundraise and get up on their own feet.

I just read there that it's 4 gaa pitches Avon but don't let the thruth get in your way either bud,

4 pitches won't solve all yer problems but sure, but as we say down here in the kingdom, half a loaf is better than no bread.

The Dublin posters are sat there with their fingers in their ears going lalalala when valid points are being raised. They want money handed to them to create clubs, instead of clubs being formed and then asking for money. It shouldn't happen. The entitlement is strong. I suspect the GAA's finances will be down a fair bit when people stay away from football games, and a new TV rights deal has a smaller package deal because viewing figures are down. They don't want to know. It is a very serious time for anyone that loves football, but Dublin needs more money, to hell with the rest.

Next year how about we present Dublin with the Sam Maguire at the start of the championship. They can have the presentation in croke park in front of the ecstatic fans on hill16, Cluxton can inspire us all with another speech thanking all their sponsors... the Dublin fans can then go off and celebrate and say how amazing their team is.

Then we can have another championship with the other 33 counties, a fair one. The Dubs get what they want - a meaningless trophy, while the rest of us get a fair and exciting championship. Everyone's a winner.
