Ballynacargy and FInea the favourites, any chance of any of the B teams causing an upset?

some win for CFCW in Round 1 in fairness so the next game against Ballynacargy should be very interesting. Very hard to tell from the second teams who will be strong. Hopefully all fulfil fixtures anyway

Already too late for that. You have to wonder what some clubs are doing entering teams. They have to have a fair idea what kind of numbers are in their panel. Only one round of senior played and teams giving walkovers.

I was hoping that wasn't the case. It's not on for the Junior clubs who are doing their level best to try and improve but at least with the Groups are set up they are a little insulated

From group one, ballynacarrigy and ballinagore to be top 2 straight through to semis followed by finea into 1/4 final, st joes to top group 2 with it becoming a 2 leg shootout between ballycomotle and delvin with delvin coming out on top and qualifying

Balinacarigy to win it.
Ballycomoyle to canter through group B, beating everyone by 10 pluss.
Lvally to fold.

Ballycomoyle bet a poor lvalley team, joes will eat them alive, and even delvin will run them into the ground

Hopefully Loughnavalley field in their next game. In fairness to their players they are trying their best to get a team out but purely on numbers they will struggle. Rumours of a couple of incoming transfers might hopefully get them over the line. Group 1 is going to be tasty as there does not seem to be a massive amount between all teams. In Group 2 Ballycomoyle vs St Josephs on Friday August 2nd is set to be a big test for both teams

What is the story with some teams in group three not fielding? If they can't field then they shouldn't enter the competition, end of.

Like every competition, the club enters in good faith
If players get injured, are away on holidays or go travelling then there's not much a club can do

Like every competition? How many walkovers are given in the senior championship? It is the same every year, it is unfair and disrespectful to the teams who actually do enter "in good faith".

In fairness if it was a few rounds in to the championship I would agree but walkovers in round 1 is not great. It's a completely different story to a pure Junior club who are trying to field to keep their club going

Anyone hear how the Delvin Loughnavalley game went? The table on the Westmeath gaa website hasn't been updated with the score? Did it even go ahead? Pauls showed promise in the 1st half but Bal as expected turned them over in the 2nd. And what had gone wrong with Ballinagore!!??

You'd imagine the valley didn't field
