Leinster Hurling Panel

(Oldest Posts First)

Very disappointing to see no Carlow man on Joe Dooley's Leinster panel for the upcoming provincial championship. There are easily a few who would be worth their place.

yeah was surprised at that, Carlow has been making great strides at hurling, they deserved one or 2 players like the 2 guys on the irish shinty panel looked nice hurlers. The panel seemed a bit biased to me.

I think Podge that Barrowsider is right... what Carlow hurler is good enough at present to be on the Leinster panel.... Shane Kavanagh?

Its not a surprize to be honest, the 15 subs of kilkenny would destroy Carlow!!
Thats only one county get a selection of players from Dublin,Wexford,Offaly and laois too!!

Dont think there anyone good enough

And the reason we had players on the Shinty team is beacause there is a selection of players from weak
countys and strong, because the Scotish standard would not be good enough to handle 15 top players in Ireland.

Im not putting a downer on it but its true!!

how do you know anyone individual player in our county isnt as good on any given day as any other hurler in the county? we ve beaten laois, wexford, ran clare and offaly close in the last 2/3 years, so they cant all be too bad. so none of these lads - i ll grant they all arent upto it, arent worth a spot on a 24/30 man panel? paul murphy looked a class player for kk this year, and was magnificent in the all ireland. yet at club level, he got cleaned out by eddie byrne in the leinster club semi. so one on one, a lot of these lads arent far off the pace at any level.

Shane Kavanagh, Eoin Nolan, Edward Byrne, Ruairi Dunbar?

Who would you take off the panel then?
Dont think you can say there better than anyone on it in fairness!!

well are our lads any worse than them?? i mentioned about eddie byrne roasting paul murphy but you overlooked it. we do have all ireland champions now in the county at the second tier of club hurling, so the standard aint too bad.. in munster kerry have a rep on their panel. is he worth a place on it given bthe strength of munster hurling? so i think we are deserving of a spot. it would be hard to leave off anyone but we have hurlers who are the match of these lads on any given day.. maybe you dont get to enough matches to see that!

Yeller, if a Carlow player is only put on the panel so as to make up numbers from weaker counties then it's not much use either. It needs to be picked on merit if the competition is to survive and for a Leinster appearance to actually mean something.

Im sure i have a better in look than you on the panel , there are some very good hurlers but not to the standard of the panel on big occasions.
The intermediate was played in front of a empty Croke Park i gurantee you Paul Murphy with give a lession under them stances,
Im sure of that cause i know these players and playing with this players would be a different standard, Paul Murphy had to try run the
show that day!! I think if any it would be Paudi Kehoe who could do it at that stage
Noone else could improve that panel of serious hurlers!!
