Something tells me that Waterford will win this but I hope wexford do as I think wexford v limerick would be a fascinating 1/4 final. hurlinspuds (Cork) - Posts: 1494 - 18/07/2014 10:17:33 1620944 Link 0 |

I think the bookies have this one fairly right. I'd expect Waterford to win by a few. Given what Wexford have been through and the fact that Waterford are a far better team than people think, I'd go with Waterford by 4-6 pts tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 18/07/2014 10:33:57 1620956 Link 0 |
Waterford surprised me in their first game against Cork but second day out they were poor enough. Was very impressed with Wexford in both games against Clare. Their only problem was the amount of wides they racked up. I'm putting that down to inexperience rushing to get their shots off instead of either steadying down or picking out a teammate in a better scoring position. If Wexford can improve on their points to wides ratio they will be a serious team for any opponents. It could be close but I expect Wexford to prevail. corkcelt (Cork) - Posts: 4388 - 18/07/2014 10:42:04 1620964 Link 0 |
Waterford to get revenge for 2004 defeat at the same venue. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 18/07/2014 10:53:25 1620977 Link 0 |
Its going to be a tight game. Fair play to Wexford on a great win against Clare but lets face it, Clare are no where near there 2013 level, so its hard to know where exactly Wexford are. Wexford are coming back into the main fold of counties again, and certainly wouldn't back against them if they were playing anyone bar the current big 2. Very impressed with the improvement in Wexford's hurling and a lot of credit must go to Liam Dunne. I would go for Wexford by 3 points thanks to their aggressive forward line. Byanthon (Tyrone) - Posts: 1780 - 18/07/2014 11:38:49 1621012 Link 0 |
Also not being biased but I think Waterford are the most under rated county left in the championship. The likes of Moran, Darragh Fives, Connors, Mahony and Stephen O Keeffe would make every team in the country. H_Bomb12 (Waterford) - Posts: 32 - 18/07/2014 11:41:03 1621015 Link 0 |

It depends which Waterford turn up. The team that played Cork the first day will beat Wexford if they can play this game as a championship match, but if they play as a qualifier low key approach then Wexford will win. I expect Waterford to com out all guns blazing and win. Clubgaa (Limerick) - Posts: 879 - 18/07/2014 12:14:07 1621048 Link 0 |

I think Waterford are a far better team that probably getting credit for. However I think Wexford are on a run at the moment despite the physical stakes over the past 2 weekends. WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1709 - 18/07/2014 12:44:52 1621081 Link 0 |
Waterford were not beaten by Wexford in 04. I thought Kilkenny beat them with Mullane off. Oldtourman (Limerick) - Posts: 4316 - 18/07/2014 13:07:07 1621097 Link 0 |
Wexford have had a huge boost in morale by beating Clare, the nervous tension that seen them hit some poor wides in those games will be gone and they'll kick on. bricktop (Down) - Posts: 2503 - 18/07/2014 13:16:04 1621105 Link 0 |
Waterford very much under the radar on this and they have some really quality forwaards in Mahony & Glesson. The return of Fives and Connors is a huge addition to them but I'm not sure about the midfield pairing named. Brick much more effective at CB with Moran on the Wing.
