the master
What relevance does that have? Are you trying to say it justifies what McMahon done? If not then it has zero relevance to the point. So I ask you, what is the motivation for the above response?

the point I made was clear that the umpires choose to only inform the ref of what mcmahon was doing
and ignored the treatment the kerry defence were giving kev mac as soon as he took the field
how is that fair officating and the fact you are ignoring kev mac being pushed into a goal post
shows you blatently have an angle to this programme and refuse to view it at both ends

Why is it that only phily mcmahon incident gets talked about?
did I watch a completly different programme to most on here
but you can clearly here an offical inform goldrick that 20 green and yellow hit roughly into the face
he then tells the player in question(sheehan) roughly into the face
yet he produces only a yellow card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
surely thats a red card for hitting someone into the face
then straight after that incident on the clip
kev mac gets pushed into the goal post by another kerry player
goldrick sees this and says paul paul relax dont do that, the balls out there
and takes no action at all
how on earth can the media and posters on here only identify philly from that programme

I think at this stage the Mods should be a bit more awake and stop a lot of the "he done this and so and so don't that rubbish.
It's puttig people off and they are quiet happy to sit back and do nothing.
A bit like some of the stuff in GAA ironically enough.

A lot of off the ball incidents.
ill put my blue tinted glasses on first.
Flynner and Ciaran Kilkenny were wrestled to the ground away from where play was.
A o Mahony never left Kev mc Alone pushing and slapping him when there was no ball near them. Sheehan punched one of our lads , Maher punched Jack .
Donaghy caught Philly across the face with a slap, pushed Cluxton in the back.
Green and gold glasses on .
Philly should of seen red very dangerous act on Donaghy,
Ok lads help me here what other off the ball incidents came from the Dubs.
Bottom line if you allow it , Kerry will bully you in their individual battles and then start imposing themselves on the game playing good football, They tried it against us and came out second best . Although it has to be remembered kerry were defending their title and the first Team to reach a final the following year in a long time. so credit where credit is due.
Kerry will be well up for it next year ,like a wounded animal. I hope we are ready if we meet again.

Ok lads,

I probably went a little overboard this afternoon.

The post holiday blues were getting to me in work today, sorry for lashing out at a few people on here.

I usually love the banter with the Dubs, my sense of humour was missing today so apologies.

I'm sure I could have made my point with a little more grace myself.

At the end of the day its only all something to egg each other on about.

TheHermit - Aidan O'Mahony has 5 All-Ireland medals. Diarmuid Connolly has 3 All Ireland medals and 2 All Ireland club medals which is not bad in comparision to Aidan O' Mahony and I am sure DC has a chance of winning another one.

Best part of the programme was following John Kerins Jnr and the family. Serious show of strength from him, I would have been in tears.

It's great to see the refs mic'd up and what is actually said on the pitch.
I think Coldrick refereed it perfectly, he nor his umpires/linesmen could have seen what Philly done without a bit of guesswork. Yes Dublin posters in my opinion he did gouge and probably should have got a bigger ban, but nobody could have seen that at the time. He couldn't have spotted what Maher done on Jack, even hard to see on video. He didn't need to red card Sheehan or Murphy because they were minor enough incidents though Murphy should have been yellow carded IMO. There was the off the ball incidents with Flynn and Kilkenny with their markers pulling them to the ground, surprised none of he assistants seen either but again these are minor enough tussles. He was spot on to give Dermo the yellow, it was dangerous but no malice in the tackle. The Aidan O'Mahoney incident was gas, no it's not right and you wouldn't want to see kids doing it but it was funny. Even the official in the background was trying not to laugh.
I like the way Coldrick refs, he gives players respect and explains his decisions. Can't ask for much more.

The dancing at the end was hilarious.
Never knew the Rock's were so embedded in Croke Park. They are part of the furniture at this stage.
I found it hilarious that they bring Sam to mass, can't change some of these old traditions, it's what makes the GAA so unique.

Good show all in all and nearly as much entertainment reading the last 5 pages of tripe on here

Lets all a truce on the match analysis and discuss what was a very good show.
Though Coldrick's interaction with the players was top drawer. It diffuses situations very quickly.
John Kearns piece was very good. He was a class keeper. Very quick to get down to a shot for the size of him.
Top marks for the Rock family story, Weeshie etc Great show overall. Fair play to RTE.

But the Dubs dancing around Sam like a gang of women around their handbags in Coppers...I still haven't gotten over it
Don't worry Sam, we'll rescue you in 2016

Players not happy...

Neither panel were told that the ref was wearing a microphone

That's a fairly dodgy isn't it...

Thought it was an excellent programme alright and a great insight into other areas on the big day. Agree with the above poster about the late John Kerins, a lovely piece and its great he is remembered like that. Good to see exactly what its like for the referee on the day and I thought David did an excellent job, was vocal explaining decisions to the players , kept calm even in the madness of the last four minutes. He got great help from his linesmen etc.
I wont even go into the game itself has for me it has been flogged to death here and agree that the last few pages here are terrible rubbish especially by our Master friend from Mayo..
Great work RTE...

Didn't get to see the programme but glad to hear that Coldrick came across well in it, helping show referees in a good light. I remember him getting stick at the time for how long it took him to give Aidan O'Mahoney his black card, obviously this programme showed the exact reason why.

It seems pretty unfair alright that the players weren't told Superglue/Jimbo.

I mean I'm sure some of them would have liked to tone down the language if they knew it was micked up.

Things said in the heat of the moment shouldn't be allowed come back and embarrass lads in front of a national tv audience.

Although I think the programme shows that it would be a good idea to have the referee's micked up as in rugby.

No harm learning from the good points of other sports to improve our own.

Adapt or die and all that,

Poor form that they weren't informed. In fairness the players came across very well in their interactions with the ref.
I'm sure there were a few more colourful interactions they could have used.

It was clear at the match and on television (live) that Aidan O Mahony was at fault in regard to time wasting.

Yes it was unfair - they should have been told.

Not saying it would have made a huge difference

But just out of pure courtesy.. each CB should have been made aware of this

I feel that they were right to highlight their displeasure with the GPA

Simply rude not to have been told.

I agree thehermit it worked well - But I'm also disappointed as I enjoyed the interaction between Coldrick and the players and found it very informative

But not at the expense of the players.. I feel they were used a wee bit here.

Excellent programme. The pieces on the Rocks and Kerins is what the GAA is all about.

The piece on Coldrick was brilliant and shows ref's are just normal people who have a grá of the games.

He reffed the game very well and kept calm at all players. He didn't overreact to players emotions and understood the high stakes involved. Coldrick showed huge respect throughout which is not the same with all refs at intercounty stage.

Would love to have access to a radio ref for every game now, hopefully the GAA get involved with it. Might result in greater respect for the refs too.
