Was last night a new low for RTE with their coverage of the Tyrone /Monaghan match or was it justified... Ciaran Whelan was first to comment and to most he did speak most people's minds with his analysis of the hair- brushing incidents... but Mr O'Rourke went over the top ( or did he). Colm spoke of Tyrone's problems at Minor, U-21 and senior this year , every game he said Tyrone had problems. Now I wasn't at every Tyrone game, for obvious reasons, but some incidents do justify comment but I felt his comments were harsh and rash and needed further detail.... he and most in RTE have spoke of the U-21 game - i sill don't know what the fuss was, please expand, apart from Tipperary players stamping. The incident in the minor match against Donegal was unpleasant and not-needed in our game, but one incident in one minor game shouldn't condemn all Tyrone Minors . ( Should we condemn the Kildare- Offaly players for the ear biting incident in the Minor Championship match this year. cuchulainn35 (Armagh) - Posts: 1676 - 10/08/2015 17:37:48 1767477 Link 0 |
Nicholas Murphy took some punishment from Kerry over the years alright, and wasn't highlighted much either. Muilleann (Tipperary) - Posts: 114 - 10/08/2015 17:51:15 1767489 Link 0 |
In the round, RTE's observations were fair and accurate. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Two of the three analysts that spoke on the game gave a fair account of what happened. I don't see what some people are getting so worked up about. Teams are just going to have to prepare for Tyrone when they meet them as I can't see the GAA putting measures in place any time soon to deal with the points that were raised on the SG. drumlinbelt (Monaghan) - Posts: 179 - 10/08/2015 17:52:35 1767491 Link 0 |
Not ever a word about Michael Lundys embarrassing dives in the club final . TheRightStuff (Donegal) - Posts: 1688 - 10/08/2015 18:04:14 1767500 Link 0 |
I thought the most disgraceful incident I've seen in the GAA in many years was the seemingly premeditated assault on Karl Lacey in Croke Park last year - yet the Sunday Game pundits concentrated on the Donegal doctor being on the pitch. opa01 (Cavan) - Posts: 503 - 10/08/2015 18:04:27 1767501 Link 0 |
I thought the comments by whelan and o'rourke were spot on last night! They saying what 95% go the gaa public saying about tyrone. Molaise (Fermanagh) - Posts: 96 - 10/08/2015 18:19:24 1767510 Link 0 |

Its becoming blatantly obvious that the SG old guard have a hatred & bias towards Tyrone. Colm O roukre couldn't wait to get a rant going after the tyrone game. What the meath team did through the 80s & 90s was much worse & got covered up by comments like its a physical game... nonsense - yes we all want to keep physicality in the game but does that mean teams were there to be assaulted (96 semi final et al). tyronesaints (Tyrone) - Posts: 14 - 10/08/2015 18:39:39 1767528 Link 0 |
Tyronesaints....Give me a break. Nobody says that Meath, Dublin and many others haven't been involved in rough stuff. Its the diving, sledging and general cynical approach that people are grinding the axe about. There is no way to defend laying down systematically post each foul (Tyrone do this more than any team i have ever seen) and there is no defending the pathetic dive of McCann, The dive of McAlliskey and half the rest of the team. Drawing a foul for a free is one thing but to feign injury and constantly pressurise the officials is Tyrone's MO. The sly digs, tussles and punches were going plenty on both sides but the rest...... seanfinn (Monaghan) - Posts: 360 - 10/08/2015 19:02:20 1767550 Link 0 |
The bias is unbelievable. These incidents happen in manys a games but they are magnified significantly when its tyrone involved. sam09 (Tyrone) - Posts: 339 - 10/08/2015 19:09:12 1767556 Link 0 |
Well Kyle Coneys latest tweet is not helping Tyrones cause. There is no media witch hunt in my opinion. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11248 - 10/08/2015 19:19:58 1767565 Link 0 |
If Tyrone detrone Kerry I would say that nobody will care what the media say. lilywhite1 (Kildare) - Posts: 2993 - 10/08/2015 19:27:25 1767573 Link 0 |
Seanfinn any comment on Beggans dive as shown last night in a clip supposedly showing the sins of Tyrone or are you like the RTE pundits blind to this happening? benched (Tyrone) - Posts: 534 - 10/08/2015 19:29:42 1767576 Link 0 |
I don't give a damn if Tyrone never have to speak with RTE ever again, the useless crock of s**** that's supposed to resemble a sports output. brendtheredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 10897 - 10/08/2015 19:51:59 1767591 Link 0 |
Boohoo. Poor Tyrone fans are upset that their team of serial cheats gets criticised. The analysis in The Sunday Game was measured and accurate. The most depressing aspect of the cynicism was the fact that young players like Meyler and McCann were prepared to utilise it. McCann in particular was entirely despicable. However should we be surprised at this when minor footballers from Tyrone are prepared to sledge an opponent about the death of that players father. Tyrone have become a very powerful football county however their behaviour is an affront to The GAA. Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 6031 - 10/08/2015 19:52:44 1767593 Link 0 |
Rte pundits need to lay off Tyrone. They always seem to highlight the negative things and overlook the good play that gets Tyrone the wins. They brush similar incidents from other top teams under the carpet. I for one would love to see Tyrone win the all ireland just to see the panelists faces. enver (Limerick) - Posts: 128 - 10/08/2015 19:55:02 1767596 Link 0 |
Ive never commented negatively on Tyrone before, but some of their play acting lately is pathetic. The lad hitting the ground was an embarrasment to the game and i must admit i hope Kerry beat them.S Cavanagh is a great player, but hes very clever in conning referees into giving him frees.Like his little dummy that still confounds opponents,i dont know how he gets away with it. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 10/08/2015 20:04:07 1767600 Link 0 |

Most folk see everyone else's foul play but fails to see their own. The more successful teams are the ones committing most of the fouls and have an art of fooling the refs most of whom are sub-standard. The amount of fouling that goes unpunished in most matches is frightening. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 10/08/2015 20:20:30 1767612 Link 0 |
