kildare dont deserve equal investment to the dubs..the dubs deserve investment based on their population..similar to what kildare do...kildare should just be getting better then they are getting currently...kildare have had much larger budgets then most counties in kildare so the likes of meath and kildare have no reason to complain about dublin..its the counties like westmeath longford carlow and so on who are the ones that are completely up against it when it comes to the dubs fabio8 (USA) - Posts: 2182 - 23/06/2015 19:34:20 1741804 Link 0 |

Hill horse racing is massive in Kildare but football is number 1 , like you honestly think more kids in Kildare are out horse riding than playing Football? Not a chance, Gaelic Football is huge in Kildare and will always be number 1. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 23/06/2015 19:39:16 1741807 Link 0 |
Is horse racing even a sport??What percentage of people would have any interest in it without the betting side of it?Very small id say.Cant stand it myself. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 23/06/2015 19:43:39 1741810 Link 0 |
i like it myself but take the betting out of it and you are left with very little.....football blows it out of the water in terms of participation fabio8 (USA) - Posts: 2182 - 23/06/2015 20:01:43 1741818 Link 0 |
Gaelic football is by far the biggest sport in Kildare. Rugby exists but on a small scale. There are about 6 rugby clubs in the entire county compared to about 55 gaa clubs. Socccer is big in Leixlip and Celbridge but if Im being honest, both of these towns are full of dubs who have little interest in gaa never mind Kildare gaa. A few years ago Kildare County entered into the league of Ireland and struggled to get more than 150 people at the games so went bust a few years later. 11jm11 (Kildare) - Posts: 366 - 23/06/2015 20:14:56 1741822 Link 0 |

A good way to even things up on Sunday, let the Kildare team ride horses. seadog54 (Meath) - Posts: 2151 - 23/06/2015 20:42:09 1741839 Link 0 |
Yes clondalkindub, you have hit the nail on the head there as regards the participation. Anyway bacause of its nature as a professional sport and it not being a team sport apart from amateur eventing and so on, very few make it or will have the opportunity to become jockies. As I said earlier there is a huge overlap between the sports in terms of supporting but without doubt football is the bigger sport by a long margin. Of course additionally it's nort just Kildare people who go to the race meetings as people travel from all over the country to attend race meetings. lilywhite1 (Kildare) - Posts: 2991 - 23/06/2015 20:46:38 1741842 Link 0 |
Can we please put an end to the notion that success depends on a large population. How do you explain Kilkenny in hurling? murof (Kildare) - Posts: 480 - 23/06/2015 20:54:14 1741848 Link 0 |
Its all about structure and while Kildare have been quite successful at underage it takes time to come through also it doesn't always translate into a senior success, look id give Kildare as good a chance as most this weekend, its akin to Tyrone coming to croke park this year theyd more than likely get hockeyed there's a huge gap developed between the top tier and the rest. Even in the top teir the likes of Kerry mayo and Donegal are hoping for a dubs off day. Look at the way they humiliation of Monaghan last year. Its all good slagging Leinster but no other province has Dublin to contend with. And if you did it would be same story. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 23/06/2015 21:22:46 1741862 Link 0 |
Yeah but football is way bigger than horse racing in Kildare Hill. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 23/06/2015 21:34:40 1741867 Link 0 |
In before brian adams claims that kildare children have to horse ride with no saddles while dublin kids are sent ponies from sheikh muhammed MartinGerard (Longford) - Posts: 275 - 23/06/2015 21:41:48 1741873 Link 0 |
We need to keep it tight in the first half to avoid a massacre, however I do believe whatever the score is at half time, Dublin will come out in the second half and blitz us. That's the harsh reality. If Kildare win I think a week long drinking session is in order!! ShortGrass_1 (Kildare) - Posts: 223 - 24/06/2015 11:21:43 1741988 Link 0 |
if Kildare can somehow stop Dublin scoring goals they have half a chance. Easier said than done though. They also have to somehow limit the running game of Michael Darragh MacAuley..all 6 ft 3 of him. He's very fond of scoring goals. crikey (Australia) - Posts: 355 - 24/06/2015 11:58:57 1742012 Link 0 |

I think we will have too much for Kildare on Sunday to be honbest. There have been several shocks in the football but I can't see it hapening, I think Dublin will have too much firepower for Kildare and win by 10 points. Dubsfan28 (Dublin) - Posts: 2509 - 24/06/2015 12:41:11 1742052 Link 0 |
Don't forget people, at the 16th minute during Sunday's game we're going to have a one minute applause in memory of the two Harris lads and those poor young people who died tragically in California. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8597 - 24/06/2015 12:41:17 1742053 Link 0 |
Kildare will run Dublin a bit closer than people think ...They were impressive against Laois who ain't a bad side despite the freak result against Antrim. BigJohn.6_8 (Galway) - Posts: 704 - 24/06/2015 13:02:30 1742070 Link 0 |
