Kildare v Dublin

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I can see no obvious reason why Kildare cannot get as close or not closer to Dublin than Tipp got to Kerry. Two sets of teams in similar positions.

I expect Dublin to win but the 20+ margins are disrespectful. To lose by 20 pts you team effectively capitulates. Kildare will have to bring a plan to stay in the game for 50 mins and see where that takes them. I think they will do that and Dublin by 5 is reasonable.

Always somebody elses fault as to why they aren't good enough to win.

Nothing disrespectful about giving your honest opinion Seany. The bookies have it evens at 11 points on the handicap,so you think Kildare will cover that by 6 points.Fair enough, but i think Dublin will win by over 10.And possibly by over 15.

You say Dublin by 5 is reasonable Seany. You can get Dublin -4 points at 1/9 in Paddys. The bookies are quite rightly taking no chances.

Option 1 go to croke park on a overcrowded cattle train and get return while trying to avoid drunkin clowns, (meath kildare and dublin fans headin in) to watch a poor westmeath team play a meath team that even with first choice 15 would be clinging on to average status, and a kildare team with the confidence of a blind paralyzed rabbit trying to cross a busy rush hour motorway play the chelsea of gaa in their own back yard, or
option 2 get suited up and go to the 150th irish derby and watch some of the worlds best horses and jockeys compete on a level playing field, party till sunrise while in the company of some beautiful fillies, then taxi home for less than £20..
hmmm, let me see...

Off to the races with you.

It'll be tough for the GAA missing your positivity and for Kildare to miss your loyal support but I'm guessing they'll survive.

a lot of posts here are failing to recognise that Kildare don't beat Dublin even when we have a good team, its just a really rare day out when that happens. All Dubs fans know this. Meath are poor right now but still the only team in leinster who dubs fans would ever worry about. kildare are popular with the dubs as when we have a decent side we bring some hype and colour to croker, play fast open football, give them a game and lose, we're Dublin's ideal opponent, no blanket defense, no hatchet men to injure their star players, fans to create a good atmoshpere and forwards that miss when you're there for the takin!

But this kildare team is hurtling through the divisions in the league, allstars are retired, young talent suppin beer in america and managed by a man who can never beat Dublin no matter how many times he plays against them. little in this one for either set of fans i'm afraid. Dubs by 14+

It must be many years since you travelled to Croke Park on a train so.

Just because Meath are not all-Ireland contenders anymore does not make them a poor team.I don't believe Kildare are a poor team either, but they have lost a lot of experience..

The white flags of surrender have already been hoisted it seems. Hard training Kildare players deserve better support than this.

you obviously never travel in from maynooth, train is full on a normal sunday,
i hope kildare keep it competitive, i wish the players the very best of luck, their effort is faultless, i wont be going as im taking my first break in many years from following them this year mostly because of work commitments, but partly because the game/results are gone way too predictable, hence my fondness for the sport of kings,(im well aware derby is on saturday but its a case of either or and derby wins this year im afraid) and partly because of the way the last manager was treated has left a sorrow taste, but i wont be jumping on any bandwagon if they do hopefully go on a bit of a run this year and if work allows ill be back next year..

I said during geesers time that when Kildare football would be going back how many of these fanatical fans would remain Loyal? I think some here are showing it. And i have had my fair share of digs at Kildare but they deserve better than this , missing the match for a day at the curragh? I nearly missed the birth of my daughter to attend a Meath game, every mothers day i bring her to a match (the missus) and thats just leagues.
Meath have gone back but apart from 2 funerals and a severe illness i have missed no games in last 10 years. And im including O'Byrne and league. I have told of standing in Cusack park watching Longford hammer us in early 80s, i still went every year since. I was there on Leinster final last year i was there v Armagh absolutely soaked (as was kids) ill be there on Sunday and provided we win and im above ground ill be bloody well there on Leinster final, and no crowded trains , long ques drunken idiots or any McHugh Spillane brolly telling me how much dubs will beat us by will stop me.
And further more i will in my heart believe and expect the royal to win. And if they don't? Ill be out the next day and if we get beat ill count the days until the O'Byrne cup starts in new year.
So come on Kildare fans get behind your team its these lows that make the highs so special, and just one question how many of those missing on Sunday woulbe demanding a tickets for final against say Meath if you did win????

I'm going because I love my county and will follow them through thick and thin and if that makes me a mug then so be it!

Anyway best of luck to both kildare teams..
