It's an absolute disgrace that a mad footballing county the size of Kildare is doing so bad at Gaelic Football, something so terribly wrong in that county 3 Leinsters shocking. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 23/06/2015 16:32:48 1741680 Link 0 |

well said martingerard...its an embarressing return in terms of success....a county of that size should be competing regularly at the top table as should meath....look to ulster where you see teams making the best of themselves despite various issues although it seems to matter a lot more to them up there and they take there football a lot more seriously...if only counties in leinster did the same then leinster would be much improved...especially meath and kildare fabio8 (USA) - Posts: 2182 - 23/06/2015 16:49:53 1741696 Link 0 |

producing athletes instead of top quality forwards is also a major issue....when you compare some of the forwards kildare have had to much smaller counties like westmeath offaly and even longford....likes of dessie dolan paul barden niall mcnamee and even denis glennon have been superior to much of what kildare has had to offer fabio8 (USA) - Posts: 2182 - 23/06/2015 16:56:39 1741703 Link 0 |

Looking forward to this one, could be a very good game. While predicting a Dublin win is simplistic, I think that Kildare will really put it up to them providing they don't concede early goals (they have some good defenders at the moment so..). I have a soft spot for Kildare and think that they are underrated at the moment. They beat Down in Newry and should have beaten Monaghan in normal time last year. This year they have regrouped well enough after a poor league run and should improve for the Laois games. Can't understand the negativity around Jason Ryan, they should be glad they have him, there are not that many managers around the country better than him, he needs a bit of time. Anyway I think Kildare should beat the handicap betting of +11 mhunicean_abu (Monaghan) - Posts: 1044 - 23/06/2015 17:19:24 1741719 Link 0 |
very little success though hill...outside of under mcgeeney and micko they have been very poor for a lot of the time..there is no excuse for that..football is the main sport in kildare...they shouldnt be in a situation where the dubs are 15-20 points superior to them..the same goes for meath...with a population that size and considering they arent affected by emigration on anywhere near the same level as other counties then its hard to understand why there is such a lack of success...in those mcgeeney years at the end of the day how many top sides did they beat?..mcgeeney did great with them but the talent simply wasnt there to get them over the line fabio8 (USA) - Posts: 2182 - 23/06/2015 17:19:54 1741721 Link 0 |
Fair play to Kildare in their drubbing of Laois. The second half was quite impressive. They are a decent team.Unfortunately being a decent team is not of much use coming up to Croke Park on Sunday.I can see Dublin leading by 7+ at the break, and stretching that lead in the second half.Savage competition for places will ensure Dublin dont take their foot off the gas. With the huge amount of goal chances we create in each game,it nearly feels disappointing if we dont convert a minimum of three.Hoping for a good 40000 + crowd for this attractive double header.Dublin by minimum 10,and possibly 15-20 points.Set us up nicely to give the royals a final drubbing.Cant see them losing to Westmeath. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 23/06/2015 18:39:56 1741765 Link 0 |

Yeah and rugby and soccer would be big in Kildare too. Then you have a large chunk of the population who are not Kildare people, be it dubs, foreign nationals or other county people living in Kildare and commuting to Dublin. Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 23/06/2015 19:17:22 1741790 Link 0 |

how is horse racing bigger than football in kildare?..the tracks happen to be in the county but how many people are actually heavily involved in horse racing compared to the gaa?...alot people are there for the day out and so on....there is no need to try and make excuses for kildare..they are a county with a big population and a huge interest in football..they should be doing a lot better then they are fabio8 (USA) - Posts: 2182 - 23/06/2015 19:32:41 1741802 Link 0 |
