Replying To Pericles:  "Maroon, I know all sides are defensive when they need to be, but I watched the TG4 showing of the Galway/Tyrone game at the weekend, and at one point in the second half Galway had moved the ball up the field and set up in the familiar arc all sides are using. They started to probe by moving the ball over and back when all of a sudden a big hole opened up down the middle 10m wide and extending from the Tyrone 45 to the D. Gareth Bradshaw was passed the ball in front of the chasm, but instead of moving in at speed with support on either side, he took a couple steps, stopped and passed the ball back to a player well behind him. I just couldn't figure it out. I've said it in other posts, I don't think KW is anything but a thoughtful manager, but what part of a gameplan demands that level of caution?"
You are right about the second half display by Galway Vs. Tyrone and Bradshaw should have moved forward with the ball in that instance. The point I'm making is that Galway are no uglier than the rest of them. Best on Sunday to Mayo, great rivals, see ye June 16.

No Galway are uglier because the play defensive football against everyone.
Others play defensively when the need arises and adapt depending on the opposition.
The frustration im sure for Galway fans is that the players are there to play more attacking attractive football.

Either Kerry or Mayo are going to get beaten well, and doubts will start again from Monday on.. Will Mayos young newbies keep up the scoring form or will Clifford and Tommy Walsh go to town on Mayos full back line?

I think Kerry will edge this. Mayo have played well but some of their scores in recent games have been outrageous efforts and IMO that isn't sustainable for this Mayo forward line. Kerry just have that wee but extra up top and if Mayo are to win they'll need 2 goals. I don't see Kerry management allowing two defeats in a short period against any top 5 sides so I'd expect them to win by a small margin.
I'm dissapointed our Div 2 final is on a different day but at least I can take the missus out now for Mothers Day and have a few in town while watching the Div 1 final. Silver lining!!

Disagree..most of our scores have come within or just outside the scoring D...I don't have the stats but would be interested to see them.

Kevin Mac is our top scorer with 2-5, having played just 2 games. Next up is Fionn McDonagh with 0-9...thats the worry...we have found new players this league but a new superstar forward..? No.

I'd be hoping the likes of Darren Coen gets a run in that full forward line on Sunday and see how he wins ball and lays it off...I believe McDonagh and Keegan May be out with injury/illness

He had a good game v yourselves a few weeks back Clondalkin, and a good thing too because nobody else did. The issue for Sunday is the likelihood that Kerry will be dropping bombs on his head, with Walsh and Clifford likely to have a height advantage over their markers and Mayo simply won't be able to cut out all ball at source unless Kerry have a complete off-day in the middle of the park. A number of simple points from close in marks could easily be the difference between the teams at the end, and I can see Kerry getting a number of these - they've exploited that rule change better than anyone else. It's Kerry by 4 for me.

He was brilliant against us I posted after to say how good he was , but their expecting 60 thousand Sunday it's a way bigger game for a national title so way more pressure on him. This could be make or break for him. I hope he goes well.

Rumours where? Maybe around 45K. We've a good team picked more experienced than Kerry. Kerry favourites will beat us in a shootout. We need to take the advantage of having more experienced players and grind out a win if that's what's needed.

You missed the super 8's last year then and the likes of Mick O Connell don't watch Kerry either

I'm finding it hard to get off the fence for this one. Mayo really need silverware, Kerry, as in county Kerry don't as much, but it's a new and young side and they would love to announce themselves.
Mayo are capable of winning this, and so are this young Kerry side, toss of a coin for me, sorry!

Jays that's a strong back 6 that ye have picked green and red, our forwards will find it tough to function with the physicality of Durcan Keegan and Vaughan not to mention Higgins we have 3 lads just turned 20 in the forwards they'll be ate a live. Not to mention we have a 19 year old in midfield.

We will have to move the ball fast and keep it out of the tackle if we're to stand a chance.

Two strong teams names by the looks of it let's hope for a dry day and a great game.

I'd be happier if we had Moran around the middle but I think we are putting out the best team available at the moment.

Very hard to say how this might go Mayo absolutely bullied us in Tralee if we can't get a grip around the middle and curb Aidan O'Sheas influence it will be a long day for Kerry. I think we might do it in spite of losing midfield again and shade it by a couple of points.

I think you will see a big performance from Kerry tomorrow.
The last 3 outings in Croker have been very poor and i expect us to do better tomorrow.
Kerry have been the best team in division 1 this year and i expect them to continue the tomorrow.
The days of it only being the league are over, its a springboard to the summer.

Whatever about superblue, KB, I'd settle for that:)

A lot of experience in our fb line, but all sub 6 foot, plus Rob H is no monster either... sort of asking for the direct approach really and Kerry like to keep things simple if the opportunity arises. The first ball in will set the tone...

I hope Peter isn't reading my post Pericles :-)

Looking at the game as objectively as possible and it's not easy but one stat that I've heard is both ourselves and yer selves have the equal best defenses in div 1 so give it that that's a point for each of us .

Midfield ye have this sector won hands down as big Aidan should run the show easily against jack Barry who's a bit headless and isn't stepping up as a leader, and ye can move Keegan or Vaughan in there and still take this sector at yer ease as the best we can muster as back up is mark griffin or Shane Enright.

Up front yer lads scored 3:13 out of 3:15 from play last week.
We're also firing very well and with Clifford Paul Geaney and JO'D back and looking hungry I'd tip the hat for us to be better in this sector.

So all in all it could come down to how the young lads play on both sides I'd say.
