Fixtures overload

(Oldest Posts First)

see there is a serious programme of matches in the sfc and shc coming over the next couple of weeks .why is there a need to push all these games upon clubs , when there is plenty of room in september . seems very unfair on the dual clubs who will have 6 champ games in next 3 weeks .

Students back to college, shorter evenings so no mid week games. pitches cutting up.
County board like a build up to finals.
Give club champions a chance to prepare for Leinster club games.
Clubs with dual players will be severely hit.
I can forsee a lot of challenges to the lack of days between games

6games in 3weeks? Some players facing 5games in 2weeks not including if our county board decide that they should add minor games into the mix aswell

Just a few weeks ago, the minor footballers had to play 3 club games in 5 days (Mon/Weds/Fri) which must go against all advice re recovery, training, burnout etc. There were also adult league games on the Tues / Thurs too.

Look in all fairness, if players were to be completely honest they would rather play the matches then train, training is way more intense with fighting for positions and constantly striving to get stronger both skillfully and fitness wise this time of the year

Yes players would rather play games but to have 3 or 4 highly important game in the space of three weeks is a little over the top as teams one injury or red card could spell the end of a players year that started back in the winter. it just gives teams a very short space of time to recover and plan for each game and just begs the question why do teams have to start training in December or January to have the big games that they have been training for all year run off in the space of three weeks?
