With Galway Roscommon and Leitrim all pulling out of Connaught Junior Championship is it time that we did the same or indeed maybe its time to finish with the competition altogether? Mayo who we are playing on Sunday only pick from players that did not play Senior Championship Club football last year so that means the top players in Mayo are not even eligible for selection. Mayo did not even travel last year to New York for the F.B.D final. All that seems to matter now is All Ireland Championship.....
Seems to be a bit if a joke alright, when we won the All Ireland junior in 2010 it hardly made the papers. The only thing I would say is does give senior fringe players a chance to play some competitive football and that can only be a good thing. The reality is none of the top football counties care about the competition, but for the weaker counties it gives them the chance to play an All Ireland final in Croke Park which they would never get playing senior football and let's be fair there ain't to many All Ireland football medals floating around County Sligo
