TJ Ryan to stay on as manager

(Oldest Posts First)

Doubt there will be many dissenters but maybe we should get as many posts as possible in support for two reasons

1 To show our support for TJ. A credit to limerick whether as a player on the sideline or in front of a microphone

2 To leave county board on no doubt that we would like TJ to get the job over medium to long term.

absolutely. Terrific job in the circumstances. if he wants it he should get at least 2 years to bring the team on.
credit to him, he's as genuine a Limerick hurling man as there is.

Definetly is the best choice available as manager and under the circumstances that he started out on his own just shows his character and committment to the team. If he stays (which I hope he does) I honestly think we can keep pushing for another Munster title and an All-Ireland, if we get a new manager then that will be a huge setback IMO. I was delighted when he was first picked as manager as I am not a fan of getting a manager from another county as they don't seem to last long and then a new manager has to be brought in and the team has to adapt to new tactics and training methods etc, at least with TJ and the progress he made this year with the players that are soon to be comming through the underage setup then at least we will have a strong level of consistency.

100% agree TJ is the man to lead the great bunch of players and god willing will bring Liam to us in the next few years. TJ saved Limerick hurling when the self-destruct button was pressed, whatever happens I'll never forget that! I really hope he wants it, we need to keep building. Sometimes its funny how things work out and we 100% need a Limerick man. There is no better man in the world to do this job.. Simple as that!

Completely agree - and completely agree with the following comment from DF, "A credit to limerick whether as a player on the sideline or in front of a microphone".

YES definitely and for 3 years the man is a class act-cool calm and v. collected. If your County Board screw around on
this one then take them all to the next sheep-dipping and immerse them!!

I concur with all of the above. Tj would be my choice to bring this team forward. We've had I think 9 managers in 14 years. Way more than any other county. This lack of continuity is at least partly the reason for Limericks disastrous results since the turn of the century. Give the man 3 years to try and deliver the holy grail!

Thank god. The first step in the right direction for 2015 and beyond. I thought he represented limerick excellently in everything he has done since taking over. There is a great bond there between the players and management and we need to keep that going forward. When is the 2015 championship draw on??

Great news that TJ is being given a lengthy contract. Stability at last and a Limerick man as well which is even better. Although John Allen was a success in my opinion (first Munster title in 18 years), both Justin McCarthy and Donal O'Grady were proven to be a disaster. So no more outside managers. It's too much of a risk, they don't know enough about Limerick hurling and they don't care enough about the Limerick jersey. Best of luck to TJ and he can now start looking for new prospects for the rest of the club championship.

Brilliant news. Well done TJ and all involved. Great to have what looks to be a settled management in Limerick!

excellent news.....tj ryan is an extremely shrewd guy. just listen to him been interviewed. how composed he is he sounds like a fella in intercounty management for years. but the one thing i'll always be grateful for (whatever happens from here doesn't make a difference) is when donal o grady walked tj could have said feck this im outa here and jumped ship. but no he showed that day that he was a limerick man from he's head to his toes and stuck by theses lads. one last point I know its wrong to be singleing out players but to listen to seamie hickey been interviewed for the man of the match award was very emotional he's a man and a half and would die for the jersey i'll say one thing seamie chin up lad your day in the sun will come.
