Under 16 Finals

(Oldest Posts First)

The U16 finals on Saturday in 15, 13, 11 a side and a girls U16 final werer played in possibly the worst weather conditions possible. At midday on Saturday all matches should have been cancelled. Have our administrators any respect for our young players. Is player welfare non existent. There was an U21 game called off. Why not a blanket postponement. Even RTE weather forecast knew it was going to be so bad.

Young boys and girls from all them teams have trained hard all year and deserved better.

Have any other posters any thoughts.

All underage football, leagues and championships should be played in summer. When boys and girls are on the summer holidays. It gives them something to do and they get to play in better weather conditions. How the county board cant see this and change it dont know. Even the U-21s should be played during that time, because at this time of year its hard to get boys back from college and I doubt half of them are training while their at college. In the summer they would be free, the weather again would be better, most of them would be around training for the senior teams and all this together would make for a far more competitive and higher quality U-21 championship.

June68 I couldn't agree more...was at that match in Fenagh on Saturday and the conditions were outrageous, it was a scandal making young lads play on a day like that. On a positive note I was very impressed with some of the players on the field, it bodes well for Leitrim. Young Reynolds from ballinamore was a excellent example of what you want in a footballer, his passion and leadership was outstanding,a credit to his Club, Beirne from Mohill was skillful and a great talent but a little selfish but that perhaps is youth, a few others stepped up and hopefully with these types of players Leitrim will come good. Who on these teams has been called up to County Minor?

Strongly agree with this

Every child gets 2 weeks at easter normally

And 10 weeks summer holidays on average

The weather is more suitable and apart from the cul camps maybe a trip to the bog if your from the country the summers are empty

No excuse for not playing out all levels in the warm long evenings of June July and august
