Looks like he winner of the Leitrim v Roscommon game will play Mayo EW in the final and that final won't be on until August bank holiday weekend.

Games in Ballyhaunis tomorrow were originally scheduled for 3 and 4.30. Then they were fixed for 12 and 1.30. Now they are at 10 and 11.30 because a few of the BLAZER BRIGADE want to go to the qualifiers !! They are talking about player welfare etc etc but yet see no problem in young lads having to get a bus in Manor at 6.45AM and so on so as the bus can leave Carrick before 8. Its probably as bad if not worse for young lads from Westport, Achill and parts of Connemara. The hierarchy in the GAA (that we all support and enjoy), are only paying lip service to youngsters. Does anyone agree ? Back to the games and lets hope that the early start followed by a bus journey doesn't affect our lads too much and that they will keep up the good work. Defeats of Sligo, Mayo and Roscommon in a week is good. Its been a while since that happened at any level.

Silly throw in times Connacht GAA would want to have a good look a themselves. Leitrim can probably reach the ted webb final by beating Mayo in the opening game. Tha Mayo side only beat us by three. We'll be lucky to get over Sligo.

Silly throw in times

No appreciation shown for players or parents

Would it not be an idea to play these games before senior games like minor football it would drwe a crowd and give badly needed publicity to the underage set ups

Great performances from the lads today. Its great to be in a proper final. Not a plate or a shield. Lets go and win it now. Hope there is support there on the day.

The powers that BE in GAA circles are forcing our young team of 15 and 16 year olds to play 2 competitions at the same time. Two games in hot sunshine last Saturday. We won. Then we played an enormous Kildare team Monday evening. We lost but fought gallantly to the bitter end. I can only imagine how the lads legs were after that. Down to Clara in Offaly on Thursday evening. Approx a 2 hr bus journey there and back. And then play the Tedd Webb cup final against Mayo on Saturday. More travelling. Not a senior team in the country would be expected to do that. Why should our young lads ? Shame on our County Board for not making an almighty fuss and shame on John Prenty in Connaght council for condoning this. It's time we stood up and were counted.

june68 the simple fact is if mayo were in leitrims position, prenty wouldn't be long changing things around.

Well said June68, it is a lot to ask of players and mentors alike. Bigger counties may be able to spread the burden better but our county haven't got the financial clout to have a big panel to cover such a cluster of fixtures. It is the same nucleus of players who played in the majority of the past few games.

How did they fare out against Ofally? The reports from the Centre of Excellence regarding Leitrim u16's were very positive.

Great few weeks for our U16's. Just came p short on final day.

A quick question to other posters and your thoughts. Our lads were beaten in the final proper and left Ballyhaunis with nothing. Sligo who we had beaten and who finished third beat Roscommon in the Shield final. Sligo left with a trophy for finishing third while the second placed team, after topping the group left empty handed. This goes on a lot at underage football in both mens and womens football. I personally think this should be looked at. What do you think

June68- you shouldnt be bothered about the silverware.everyone came away from the tournament talking about Leitrim.
i was following galway city/west.they were one of the favourites for the tournament and ended up losing the plate final to a Mayo north south team that they hammered the previous week.galway north won the plate 1 final and ended up with silverware. the two galway teams played numerous challenges over the last few months with galway city/west winning by an average of fifteen points each time.personally i think there was more talk about leitrim and galway city/west than any of the other teams.
