Paudie and Liam og xrays were clear today heard it on the radio. So hopefully they be OK. P morris and r Higgins both going for knee operations. Morris back in 3 weeks and Higgins out for 4 months.
U20 made hard work of it tonight, miss 3 very good goal scoring chances. Is there any hope of having the other boys back for the next game? We will need them badly judging on tonight. But we'll done lads delighted with the win.

Replying To Samson55:  "Chin is the essential ingredient in this team. He adds power and aerial ability. I would hope he has 70 minutes in him. If not perhaps introduced for the second half. With Chin, Rory and Mac playing at their best should build up a winning score. I also think Jacko should play instead of Mikey Dwyer. I would echo what other posters are saying regarding pushing up on their puckouts. Im afraid Kevin Foleys form has dipped alarmingly so i would start Dunbar in the half forward line and move Mogie to midfield. Im reasonably confident about this game but we must use our heads along with our hurls."
Jaysus our U20s don't look great, we had a decent minor team 3 years ago, know we down some players but every county will have that, don't think we progress much further if we meet likes of Dublin/KK. Forwards were poor apart from Dunbar, no end product from a lot of others ,tactics are not wonderful. We hammered this Laois team 3 years ago, remember been at it. Not too many putting their hand up for senior team especially when we crying out for young talent.
Next weekend will be another major test for Wexford, Dublin would be rubbing their hands looking at Galway game. Some changes required, we not over loaded with backs, Dublin have plenty of forwards and are big and physical. Mikey Dwyer, Liam Og McGovern, Kevin Foley, Charlie McGuckian andO Keeffe were so poor. Don't know how they take off Oisin Foley and leave McGovern on? He has been so poor but still seems undropable, no pace whatsoever, Dunbar and Jacko has to start, leave Dwyer and McGovern off. If Paudie Foley is definitely out he will be a huge loss against a physical side we find hard to beat. These bizarre tactics has to stop, giving up the puckout and then booming big high balls down on McDonald with 2/3 defenders around him, pity him to be honest,he still came up with 1-2 a penalty and created chances. He needs help.

Replying To countyman2022:  "Galway used 8 consecutive short puck outs on Saturday at one stage. All played long. Wexford won all 8 of these long balls after the puck out. Wexford retreating, therefore pulling Galway players down the pitch and leaving space in the Wexford forward line. The fact Wexford won all 8 of those balls after the puckouts, the balls into the forward line were a let down."
Is it not too congested around the middle when the ball is turned over?

Good news Egan said that Paudie Foley and Liam og are both fit for Dublin. Bad news Morris and Higgins need knee ops better news Morris should be back in 3 weeks. Higgins out for 4 months though shame too a good young player looked good in the Fitzgibbon.

Very very lucky to get out of jail last night although a win by 1 might be the injection of life the boys need. Laois were dogged as always and we did create a few goal chances but for the heroics of their excellent keeper. Very surprised at the lack of energy and change from the line. Team selection also strange at times and they'll need to get it right for Dublin. There seems to be no real life or spark in our own lads and the loss of Oisin to that stupid rule I know has not gone down well for a 5 minute cameo. Cian B and Corey always dangerous up top and young Kinsella had a good impact. On we go now to the bigger tasks. Well done to all.

Replying To Purpleandgold72:  "Anyone else feel that Fanning should be relieved of the pen taking duties? His record on them is not particularly good notwithstanding the one in the 2019 Leinster but even with that one, Eoin murphy was probably disappointed he didn't stop it. I don't think it's enough for a pen taker to just have a powerful shot which he obviously does. He generally just blazes it like he did on Saturday but without the necessary control of the ball. It's very rare that you see pens missed in hurling now as the odds are very much stacked against the goalkeeper and in a lot of cases, the goalies don't even move before the ball hits the net. Surely a forward like Rory O'Connor would be a better bet…I never had any confidence in fanning as he went up to take that pen on Saturday and in the end it proved a costly miss. To be honest, I don't have much confidence in him as a goalkeeper in general. Mark has given good service over the last 10 years or so but I think we should be looking to introduce a new goalie in the near future. James Lawlor has been no2 for a few years now but it seems like Fanning is just going to be selected automatically regardless of his form."
No, definitely not. One of if not the best shot stopper in the country, not sure why anyone would want to drop him at the moment tbh.

Galway were the away team Viking, they wore white. No reason why we shouldn't have wore people and gold.

It's always been that way though not sure why. Was the same in Salthill.

In GAA do both teams change to away kits?

Replying To Purpleandgold72:  "Good win for the u20's by a point but made hard work of it. Missed great goal chances in each half. Will need to be more clinical if they're to progress. Anyone know who else they were missing? I know that Pepper, Lawlor and Scallan were all absent but I read somewhere that they had 6/7 out."
Dylan whelan, Kyle scallan, justin Moran are all more than likely out long term. Richie Lawlor and eoin ryan hopefully available for Dublin and Oisin pepper out due to u20 rule. Very difficult for a team to carry those losses and will be magnified even more the further you go in the competition.

GAA rules have a generally always been that both teams change. Nothing official but always the way.

Fanning, best shot stopper in the country???

Yeah not sure about that, average enough keeper for me to be honest who pretty much keeps making mistakes and wrong decisions.

Even last saturday blazing a penalty over the bar, trying to pick a ball off the ground and allowing it to dribble out for a 65 rather than put the hurl to it, puck outs slow and not great. At one stage in the second half when the game was in the melting pot he came out and you could actually hear the murmuring on the open seated stand "just dont drive it wide, just dont drive it wide, dont drive it dead" and bang, drive it wide whilst we had the numbers in around the area to cause issues. Something he constantly does, drive it wide from distance.

Cant honestly remember the last time he made a save where you went, wow what a save. Most other top counties have a better keeper and hes about level with the remaining counties.

County boards tend to like to show off an away kit when the opportunity arises.
I heard this from somebody in the know. They won't sell too many of them if they never wear them.

Well done to the U-20's team.
They toughed it out against a good solid Laois team.
What impressed me was the work-rate. They chased, harried and competed well for every ball.
In the 3rd quarter, they looked like a very good team performing well.
Think a bit more composure in front of goal and they would have taken more points.
In fairness to the Laois goalee, he made 2 very good saves.
They will need to improve to beat Dublin but are well capable of doing that.
You can't beat playing championship games and the games against Westmeath and Laois will stand to them.
Another good thing might be that expectation externally could be lowered but that doesn't mean they shouldn't believe that they can't beat what is in front of them. Best of luck to all involved for the next day!

What sort of team have Dublin this year at under 20 level lads? Hopefully we can get Richie Lawlor back for the next game Monday week.

Best shot stopper in country? Have you seen Kilkenny or Limerick play in recent years? Because their keepers are in another league to Mark.

Not in the same league as eoin murphy and Nicky quaid but still a fine keeper in my opinion. I remember him making some serious stops v Clare in league this year and brave too.
Who's better than him in the county?
