Tim eto brin g back Liam Dunne.. as a player I mean, not as manager. He always was incisive with the hurley.

Both teams hot heads got themselves sent off in rubbish time. Bizarre carry on. Although in fairness to Jacko he was being held by his marker who had both arms around him and made no play on the ball. A stonewall penalty by the rules of the game. Ref in general was really bad. Missed penalties on Rory and Mac too. And disallowed a goal on the word of a fella who called a wide ball from behind the net.

Can't understand wexford posters on here worried or talking about players or other county team.who cares if waterford get a lad sent off everyday or not or if that Hutchinson lad played bad in a munster game against limerick WHO CARES, your only inviting criticism and poking fun at wexford from other counties.

We need to worry about ourselves and that was shocking today. Waterford are a great team and would be a great bet for the all ireland.

But it only the league lads, the real stuff starts in 3 weeks time. Hopefully mac injury is not to bad and we learn from today.

Firstly I take no pleasure in the demise of Wexford and hope they bounce back. We have won nothing yet. So no gloating. Gleeson had to be sent off for that even though he took a slap on the elbow. Simon in fairness tried to stop the ref from sending him off but if you already have made the decision to show the serious of the incident it is too late. You would have to ask if the punishment is always equal. Which is the more agreegus ? A poke or throwing a hurley at an unsuspecting goaltender. Gleeson gets the extra punishment of missing a final. He should not have done it and is a fault in him. Incidentally I said last year O'Brien if not already would be the best goalie in the country. He can put the ball in your ear at 100 meters.
I had tongue in cheek when people were saying only two Waterford players would make most of the top teams. Prunty and Barron. No DeBurca, Gleeson, Hutchison, S Bennett, Curran, Daly, Fagan and a few more. Hutchison only a club player ? Darragh Lyons is one of the best little players playing. Connor Gleeson had O'Conor in his pocket. He also got in to his head missing frees that my under 16 grandson would score and tossing the hurley at the goalie which to me is a real sign of surrender. We may have played above ourselves today but those were the worst six backs I have seen so far. We won't talk about Fanning.
Look today was our day and Wexford will play a lot better than this. Please do. Like I said we have nothing in the bag and I am too used to that.
Incidentally there was at least three other Waterford shots went over the bar. Some strange calls on both sides. Ref watch. I don't know what to say. Left every thing go at the start and then decided he needs to get involve but I guess okay.

I don't really understand some of the rules of hurling, so I accept that both red cards today were merited. However, is it not good for the Waterford man (Gleason?) to miss the next game (League) and be refreshed and rearing to for the important stuff (championship)?

Just my take!

Shocking performance against an excellent Waterford team who have skill, athleticism and physicality in abundance and could go all the way this summer.
I was shocked when I saw the half forward line selected for today and feared we were going to get cleaned out there. What happens fanning is forced to go short with a puck out and a goal is scored. The backs were all over the place and we could easily have conceded 8/9 goals . Rory had one of those days but was our only threat up front ( 4 starting forwards substituted). Jacko's carry on leading to his red card not good enough.
The only positive was chin coming on but that's tempered by the fact he's only deemed fit enough for 20 mins 3 weeks out from Galway.

Under Davy in the league we got hammered in the 2019 quarter final, hammered in the 2018 semi final and hammered in the 2017 semi final.

Under Davy in the championship we got hammered in the 2020 Leinster semi final and well beaten by a rubbish clare team in the qualifiers. Well beaten in the 2018 quarter final and hammered in the 2017 leinster final.

Agree worrying performance but think your being harsh on Reck who did play well and O'Hanlon who outside of getting caught for the 5th goal was good too. Taught McGovern and McGuckin had some good moments while Rory kept persisting and definitely didn't get help from the ref on a few occasions. Fanning was a mixed bag some brilliant saves but terrible distribution on a few occasions. Hopefully Conor Mac's injury isn't serious. Flood has to start against Galway for me. Defensively we were carved open at times while we need more physicality in the half forward line. Waterford were brilliant in fairness to them Cahill has done a serious job, both red cards were the height of stupidity.

Didn't see you pipe up much after the other league games.

We have had 2 bad beatings at the end of unbeaten runs in the Walsh Cup and now the League. Egan didn't look overly disappointed either in the post match interview. What with giving the younger lads a good run in the game I cant help wondering is this all part of a plan."
Hopefully we can react in the same way we did after the Walsh Cup final, agree I wasn't too far away from Egan and the Wexford subs they weren't too stressed in the last 10 mins, it's all about championship if we play well vs Galway and Dublin today won't matter a jot but if we play poorly it will be a different narrative.

In hindsight probably wasn't the best week to be giving the big talk.

My god that was awful. Waterford just strolled through the whole game nobody meeting them. I don't know what to make of that at all tbh. Are we really 20 points behind the best teams? I don't think so.

Hopefully a much improved showing against Galway in the park as it will have to be.

There's a lo unpack there.... We were very poor in most areas of the field on a day when absolutely everything Waterford did turned to gold.

Mac dropping one short, disallowed goal, Rory hit more wides today than in his career to date.

The best defensive team in Ireland up to this morning.

The best team won no doubt, but all these things add up.

We pulled them back once after the bad start, but I'd feel all 5 of those goals were so soft to concede.

We all knew flood, jacko and possibly Foley should have started.

We all assumed that half forward line would not start.

Hope to God we respond like we did after the Dublin game in time for Galway.......

I haven't been this down after a game in 9 years......

Surely you more down after Tipp in 2019?
