Replying To countyman2022: "Thats the lack of S&C being done done across the board in Wexford. Light years behind." I've been banging that drum at the club and on this for a few years now. I played rugby at school in the 80s and we were doing weights from 13. All I got told by other posters was that it wasnt necessary and might be harmful blah blah blah. But all the other counties have been doing S and C at development squad level and up since the turn of the millennium or at least the last 10 years. Not sure why historically we arent the tallest county though.....

Replying To Viking66: "Agree underage success is better than no success. But its no guarantee of senior success was the point I was making. We had a good u21 team in the early noughties that only lost an u21 final to Limerick by a point. Neither us nor Limerick won anything much subsequently at senior." Limerick won 3 u20's in a row (00,01&02). That was a great base to win a senior from but it never happened. Same with Clare after they won the all Ireland in'13 they had great underage success but no more senior all Irelands followed. Look at Galway very little to show for their many minor wins. It's not a given that senior success will follow but having said that I would definitely prefer to be winning underage titles and see where it takes us thereafter

Depends what there doing at 13, 14, 15 hardly have them bursting out bench presses and dead lifts, I was working with an intercounty player not from Wexford from about 2015 or 16 up to 2018 his opinion anyway at that time was you shouldn't be on a proper weights programme til 16. any weights up to then should be light with the aim of training the correct technique. Taught the exercises aged from 14-16 should primilary be body weight exercises.

We'll just stay behind the rest in terms of S&C so and not care if we don't win underage titles as the success will come at senior from this.

If any senior success follows that would be a bonus. Obviously a senior all Ireland win would result in a weeks loss of earnings followed by a trip to A and E for alcohol poisoning but I'd suffer all those things honestly I would!

I wasnt benchpressing 100s of kilos at 13 I was doing circuit training of machines doubling as half hour or 40 minutes cardio. 3 laps of 8 or 10 machines 15 reps on each and straight onto the next machine. We also did alot of Core exercises on the grass, laps of the pitch with stops for pressups, starjumps, burpees, situps etc, pullups, on a bar, step ups with a piggyback, etc etc. We used to wrestle and roll around fighting at playtime which was great for your core as well. I'm sure it's all come on along way since the 80s and I in school too. We were also told what to eat which I suppose was easier done in boarding school. We as a county are stuck in the sporting stone ages. Back in Rackards day lads wouldve been doing hard manual labour on farms from the age of 13. Nowadays its lads nearly running you over in Daddy's Landini tractor cos they are on the mobile phone.

Just looking at the panel been published on social media, its specified as the league panel so don't know if there's scope for changes pre championship.

Limerick have named a very strong team with 9 of their starting 15 from last years AIF starting on Sunday and most of the rest of the starters named on the bench. It will be a great test for our young lads and the new management team! Looking forward to a good game!

Yeah Cian Lynch and Peter Casey ( ACL injury) only starters from last year not in the 26, there formidable looking the 6 lads who weren't starters last year would all be high quality, just look as Richie English for example they've high hopes for Colin Coughlan and Cathal O'Neill both still u20.
