In the mid nineties there were a number of good club players who while getting the chance at county level didn't establish themselves as regulars on the county team the men I am thinking of include Ollie Reid,Eamon Mc Menamin & Frank Ward remember we had a very strong team at this time with many of the 1992 team still around

Big Stephen McDermott burst onto the scene in 2003 and looked destined for great things.... But didn't want to commit to the training... I'm sure he has regrets now... A class act all the same

Aye, done well enough.

Did he get sent off twice in Clones against Fermanagh in 2004 (One in 70 and again in ET) or did I imagine that? Think that was the game Dev had a strop with the ref at the end.

Oh lord "THEEXTRAMAN", only after reading my comment, meant to say, 'Ciaran Bonner is one of the most gifted footballers I've ever seen, from the neck down'!

'Game where Dev had a strop with the ref' - In fairness - that could be any game Dev played

JP Boyle from Naomh Mhuire was the equal if not better than Colm McFadden at underage level. He went off to have a season or 2 with Finn Harps around 98/99 and never really came back to playing GAA regularly. Know for a fact that Brian McEniff did everything he could to get him involved with the senior team when he returned to the job but that by that point he was off working in New York and has spent the last good number of years in London. In terms of raw genuine talent there are none better than JP Boyle who never made it to senior jersey.

JP Boyle was superb. But I remember the red headed lad Fergel Hanna from Ardara as being the best of the lot. he destroyed sides on his own. Does anyone else not remember this guy!

JP Boyle was top class. Ollie Reid was also a stand out player. Keegan McCormick was also a great player.

Barry Dunnion and Michael Maguire were the main men on the great Ted Webb winning team of '99 I think or '00. McFadden, Toye, the two McGee's, Lacey were all there. James Hegarty was playing with two McGee's in the backline though ahead of Lacey on those county underage teams and I've never heard of him since. Joeseph Sharkey, the Kyle's and Gary Kennedy from those teams I also don't remember playing senior football. All great underage players of my era.

Seanie, neither of the Magees were on that panel. The starting 15 contained some serious footballers thou:

1. Paul Durkan (Four Masters)
2. James Hegarty (Kilcar)
3. Gerard Gallagher (St Micheals)
4. Pauric McGettigan (Killybegs)
5. Niall McClafferty (St Eunans)
6. Micheal Maguire (Naomh Columba)
7. Barry Dunnion (Four Masters)
8. Niall McVeigh (Pettigo)
9. Conal Dunne (St Eunans)
10. Benny Kyle (Convoy)
11. Can't remember this one
12. Christy Toye (St Micheals)
13. Gary Kennedy (Naomh Columba)
14. Derek Boyle (Ardara)
15. Colm McFadden (St Micheals)

Others included: Lacey, Benny Byrne (Four Masters), Stephen McHugh (Ardara), Johnny Herron (Ardara), Joe Dunnion (McCools). Martin Ferry (Dungloe)

Heena was savage! I played a bit of soccer with him in the Donegal league once upon a time. The things he could do with a ball were ridiculous!

The ones I would pick who I think could of made established county players and did play enough were:

Gerry Curran (Ballyshannon)
Declan Boyle (killybegs)
Shane Bradley (Ballybofey)
J P Bolye (naomh Mhuire)
Michael Mc guire (Naomh Columba)

There are probably more just can not think at the moment

Id we had Declan Boyle and Bradley in 2003 we probably would of beat Armagh.

All ifs and buts

Pity Barry Dunnion so curtailed by Injury..

I see DV being described as a legend.Would many people agree. His discipline was awful. He also seemed at times to prefer soccer i.e. Finn Harps,Portadown and Omagh Town i think he played for.
