Killucan v marland - Killucan should have enough to get over the line against a limited Maryland team apart from the two county boys
Castledaly v garrycastle - Should be a cracker of a game, maybe a point in it either side, sit on the fence and call it a draw
Downs v mullingar sham - Mullingar win, it will take a few years for the Downs to get their fantastic underage up to fully compete at this level
Athlone v st malachys - I expect Athlone to keep their good form from last year in Intermediate going with a comfortable win
Lomans v tpass - Another great game, Lomans should have too much fire power for the T'pass defence, win by 4-7 for Lomans
Caurly v kinnegad - Stroll in the park for Kinnegad, Caulry to really struggle this year, will do very well to avoid the drop.

Inter:
Tubberclair v balinagore - Easy win for T'clair who will be one of the favorites for this years championship
Miltownpass v rosemount - Will be tight but I expect Rosemount to do enough, 2-3 points in it
Moate v ballynacargy - Think Moate might build on their first year in int last year and cause a shock in this one, Moate by a couple of scores
Tang v ballymore - Tang win, they always start of the championship at 100mph every year, issues with the latter part however
Rochfortbridge v miltown - Rbridge to win by 5/6 points in this one
Bunbrosna v shandonagh - Bunbrosna to begin their time in Intermediate with a win, playing in div.1 league might just stand to them in this one,

With the condition of pitches after the weekend, I forsee a lot of postponements.

The hurling championships were meant to be last weekend but are now put back to June sometime.
Why weren't the football games played last weekend and hurling this coming weekend?? It completely baffles me why the club hurling games were scheduled for last weekend when the county team was likely to reach the promotion playoff.

Moate Will surely be very hard beat in the intermediate this year. U21 champions last year and Leinster Junior champions the year before would make you think they will be formidable opposition for any side at intermediate level

Interesting championship ahead we will learn some things about different managers, eg how will caulry go with out leavy as manager . How will maryland go with out john keane. Two names mentioned about future wh job in years to come. How good was john donnellon with castledaly or are castledaly one of wh top two teams. Think loman are way ahead of rest but on a day can be beaten especially without heslin or sharry.

Senior
Killucan v Maryland - Maryland by 2/3. Still surprising that Kilucan are playing division 3 league football.
Castledaly v Garrycastle - Garrycastle by 5/6.
Downs v Mullingar - The Downs are improving. A good chance of an upset here.
Athlone v St Malachys - Athlone should win by 4/5.
Lomans v Tyrellspass - Lomans by 6. The second year might be difficult for Budda.
Caurly v Kinnegad - Kinnegad by 2/3.

Inter
Tubberclair v Balinagore - Tubberclair could win this one by 10. I think they are favourites for Intermediate this year.
Miltownpass v Rosemount - A tight affair.. Rosemount by 1.
Moate v Ballynacargy - Moate are an up and comming team. Difficult to know what Bal will be like this year. Moate by 2.
Tang v Ballymore - Ballymore are never easily beaten but Tang to win by 4.
St.Marys v Miltown - The Bridge are going well in the league. Should account for Miltown.
Bunbrosna v Shandonagh - Bun are finding the going heavy in Division 2. Shandonagh to win by 4.

Killucan v Maryland - Great battle between the two teams,Killucan will feel relieved ,were lucky to win this one
Castledaly v Garrycastle - Garrycastle are steets ahead of everyone else and are clearly once again the team to beat
Downs v Mullingar - The Downs are improving, but I suspect this is more about how bad shamrocks are, they are in serious decline
Athlone v St Malachys - Athlone just shaded this ,a bit of ray connelan magic saved the day for them
Lomans v Tyrellspass - Lomans by 6.... hardly surpirsing ,lomans missing a few players, tyrellspass always start well then fall away
Caurly v Kinnegad - Kinnegad ....bit of a shock here as kinnegad had been going well last couple of years, are Caulry improving

you got that badly wrong when you said that lomans would Batter tyrrellspass .
this was a good game of football and both sides missing some players
Ger egan scored some brilliant points from frees and line balls.
mullingar and kinnegad will be under pressure now

Was at the double header in the bridge yesterday. Two poor enough games in fairness. The standard of referring In both games was alarming. Dangerous at times. There really needs to be something done to address it

i reluctantly gave the nod to lomans but the pass were the more lively team .dean mcnicholas was outstanding as was ger egan
hopefully the shoulder injury sustained by jamie gonoud is not too serious . sean loughlin brought a huge intensity to the downs and they well deserved their win against shamrocks

Was in Cusack yesterday evening for SFC double header. How bad were Shamrocks ? The wide count was shocking, but you have to hand it The Downs for a huge team effort, particularly with 14 men for 35 or 40 mins. Certainly the team that wanted it more got the 2 points. Standard of football was a bit better in the second game, Tyrrellspass were full value for their win. Interesting to hear Budda wonder why Egan isn't playing midfield for the county. Ger Egan for me is the outstanding Westmeath footballer of the current panel.
Both Shamrocks and Lomans must have key players to come back so might not be hitting the panic button just yet.
I understand the next round is in a month's time so time to regroup.
