Givney is a huge loss to the cavan cause... but you can't go on about how he had to do it all on his own etc. . . I know club football well and if u remember correctly givney didn't play for a year or two with them and that year Templeport bet them in 2 minutes at the end of the semi and went on to win ... they played great football that year with the likes of caffreys henneseys and finnegans all coming to the fore... givney sometimes tries doing to much on his own and if he brought the team into the game with him more wheter it be club or County he would be unstoppable ! what I can't understand is WHY he doesn't want to play top flight football you only get one chance !!! john.pat69 (Cavan) - Posts: 7 - 15/02/2017 23:45:03 1957309 Link 0 |

He's played with Ballymun so high enough standard. If he joins a big club in London then the standard will be high. doratheexplorer (Cavan) - Posts: 1467 - 16/02/2017 07:56:01 1957335 Link 0 |

I think he's a surveyor Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts:842 - 16/02/2017 12:09:19 1957398 Surely there must be some work out there for his qualifications. Maybe someone might know someone who might employ him. It would be great to have him back in the Cavan jersey. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4602 - 16/02/2017 13:12:31 1957417 Link 1 |

You mean a cushy number the county board set you up with so football takes priority? Unless your a teacher/student/rep or have serious flexi hours, forget about trying to juggle both. The trades and age profile of county teams now compared to 10 years ago are worlds apart. I'm sure if he's serious about his career(the one that pays the bills), County football will not be an option for the likes of David unfortunately.

I thought he was back in Cavan hence my question. It is very hard to juggle both. By the way I do know where you are coming from ???? Not hard to show a person that took over the toughest job in the country in Gaelic football a little respect. The post epitomises everything thats rotten about this forum. I certainly meant no disrespect to Mattie Mc Gleenan but i don't know him personally ,so should i say Mr mc gleenan. I am saying the championship is the litmus test of progress ultimately and that people should'nt be judging him too early. He is talented manager but this is his first job in County Management and no one said it was easy.I wish him and Cavan all the best, eamonnmac (Cavan) - Posts: 59 - 19/02/2017 22:37:12 1958450 Link 0 |

Sean this is what is wrong with this forum - posts like this!! Are you saying that it is now bad manners to call someone by their surname! Give me strength - its senior football not under 12's. I'll leave it there as this is too childish to continue. But this had to be addressed as this forum is going in the wrong direction and these little childish remarks to a new poster dont help anyone. Any news on injuries? Sean? Is Mackey in full training? Reformation (Cavan) - Posts: 357 - 20/02/2017 08:44:02 1958514 Link 0 |

Sean, I'm a bit lost as to where you see an issue with that post. How is it in any way offensive to call the a manager by his surname. I can't think of anyone who refers to Cody as Brian or to McGeeney as Kieran. Didn't you yourself refuse to call "Mr Hyland " Terry!!?? Even though he was generally well know to cavan fans and widely known as Terry to the vast majority. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5333 - 20/02/2017 13:32:20 1958667 Link 1 |
