I think its not too much to ask that there should be a press briefing the week before a match to give the supporters a run down on the progress or lack of it of players injury situations . We don't have to know all the medical details but an idea of whats going on and how far away they are from returning would suffice. Typical situation is that of Argue - selected for the first Mc Kenne Cup game , didn't play and not a whimper from anyone involved since as to his situation. Frankly I think its an insult to the paying fans who turn up at games trying to find out information about players who don't figure on the programme , wondering whether they ve left the panel or is it injury or whatever. With all the various people attached to the set-up , there doesn't seem to be any regard for PR to inform us mere mortal supporters. It wouldn't happen with Trump !!

Replying To The_Fridge:  "Well lads. Many off you heading to Healy park on Sunday?Looking forward to it. Gives a very windy wet day for Sunday. How do you think it will go?
The club rooms at Healy Park was broke into on Monday night, safes taken and the place was wrecked. Maybe if any of you are involved with your clubs I would suggest to increase the security. Alot of scumbags about."
I would imagine there would be in the region of 2000 Cavan fans making the journey to Healy Park. I think that we need to go up there and target a win but we are under no illusions about the task ahead. I think that there may be some interesting changes coming, similar to the Ulster championship game last year and we will not want to give Mickey Harte any indication of how we will play.

Bad news about the robbery! Its happening a bit in rural Ireland and needs to be stopped.

May the best team win on Sunday!

A sad state of affairs when a not for profit / voluntary organisation is targeted.

Seen Argue at the UU game in Breffni on crutches and wearing a protective boot so guessing that explains his absence.

Replying To FrDougalMaguire:  "lets face it, we don't have any marquee forwards like Conor Mc Manus, Colm Cooper etc. These are naturals. They are born, not created.
There isn't a single player in Cavan with their ability. We have average players right across the field and I can't understand why no one can see this.
There isn't a single player that will turn a game with flair so therefore we have to revert to a system.
Look at Monaghan when Conor Mc Manus gets closed down. Their average players are also lost. Only difference they build their system around mc Manus and it gets them some success, but are found wanting when they come up against teams with numerous talented forward and backs.
They players you mention won't change anything. They are good players but they are certainly not marquee forwards and never will be.
We need to be realistic and realise that for the next 10 years there is no one to set the world alight and that we need a game plan to get the most out of what we have. I'm not saying we play 15 men behind the ball, but there has to be a compromise somewhere.
We are an average team of good players and unfortunately Div 2 is our standard. Hopefully we learn from this year."
I believe you're doing a disservice to McManus and all the work he has put in to turn himself into the player he now is. He never featured for Monaghan at underage ,when he first played for Monaghan it was as a half back.Ask any Monaghan supporter back in 2004/05 who was going to be their next great hope and it's unlikely that MaManus would have been on their list. Hours of hard work and dedication and a good attitude has made him into the footballer he is today. Therefore is it not possible that our good young players of today with the right attitude and coaching can not be transformed into great players?

2. McGleenon's first year in charge - massive job to sustain Division 1 status , Kerry, Mayo, Tyrone, Dublin, all potential All-Ireland Finalists - but needs he needs time - ideally, would have been good to have him whilst we were in Division 2, and let him build the team. He's caught between a rock and a hard place - does he go out and play the attacking football that he did at club level, or does he try to keep it tight - my view, he has nothing to lose, will be difficult to stay up, so why not use Division 1 to play the way he wants to play - who knows, it might be effective.
3. Club Football - its a mess at the moment and has been for a number of years, absolutely no consideration for club players, last year in Cavan, we played a club match in May, didn't play the next one til July, and then it was 3 games in 7 days. Again, this year, 1 club match in March and a few weeks before the next. Co Board will say its to protect Co Players, utter bull from them. ACFL should be run on the days that the County Team is not playing."

I have a feeling you have the wrong man for I never ever interfere with the selection of the team. I don't watch normal training but try to watch any little games they play and even then I would not try and select the team. This is why there is a Boss and his selectors to pick what they believe to be the stronger team. I personally might not like the selection but I suppose many of the players not selected might have the same opinion but hey it's only an opinion.
This time next year things will be different for the Boss will have had a chance to view as many players possible over the championship and from then on we can start judging the man but right now as far as I am concerned with what he has he is doing the best he can. Long year ahead yet.
Enjoy the new man he has a lot character. Sean O'Rinn

Good coaching is very important but players need the ability and dedication to begin with. You can't just expect dedication from young lads either, the sacrifices are huge. The want to be the best has to come from within. Natural athletic ability needs to be there too. One problem I see with our forward line is that their pace is nothing exceptional. I think against a lot of teams the opposition defense looks pacier. If the timing of the ball in is not perfection then they will either not get to it or be under pressure immediately. And it's all well and good letting the ball in first time but as a tactic this might work once. Defenders are not stupid. And taking lads on and beating them requires pace too. If a forward knows a defender has the legs on him there's little point in trying to take him on, you will lose out. Having Givney up front gives us more options. For my money he is exceptional in aggression and strength under a high ball. Running onto 50/50 balls too his strength and size make up for any pace disadvantage he might have on his marker. But unfortunately he's not an option at the moment.

Another strange team selection, K Clarke at mid field isn't working , a fine footballer but mid field with the county isn't his position , I think Galligan should re take his place in goals for his more faster and accurate kick outs ,, we are struggling in the forwards taking scores yet Dillon and Madden is on the bench , they both would have more to offer in my opinion than the selection of Niall or Rory who both have being struggling to find form as of late . Best of luck to the team Sunday , probably be another low scoring game once Tyrone doesn't run down the middle at us , we're we are weakest and could concede goals , Bedt of luck to the team Sunday

Would presume Rory will go either full back releasing Faulkner to midfield or he will go midfield in a direct switch with Clarke. Hopefully the 2 weeks training has sharpened Gearoid as we need him back to his best in order to get scores. Likewise would have liked to see madden & Dillon starting as I think they both offer something different. No sign of Niall McKiernan on subs ??? Like the last day mcgleenans knowledge of the Tyrone players should be beneficial. Big challenge though & hard to see where our scores are again going to come from. Best of luck to the team & management

Why would Faulkner go midfield? He is now our best man in the full back line, even doing great job marking one of the best forwards in Ireland. I think Rory doesn't have the pace for midfield (as was very evident in the lost semi replay last yr) and maybe there is certain player type of Full Forward that he could mark and do well on. I'd try him at Ctr Back maybe and push Martin Reilly onto Harte to do a job on him. We need a target man at FF and we need Gearoid out around the middle. I'd look to start Madden or Dillon inside. Anyway these teams being released are so often off the wall its only guessing really. Good look to the team and management, if we could get something in Tyrone it would be a huge result and I have a feeling we might just do something.

Reason I say Faulkner might go midfield is that I think we need strength & aggression in that area & while I agree with you that he is our best defender at the moment I think he is really needed in a couple of positions & that's a huge compliment to the fella

Seen that. Would be nice to get confirmation. Pictures up on Teamtalk Tyrone and the pitch is waterlogged. Badly. Can't see it been on.
